Description

T stands for: Territories, and maybe Test, because the entire Territories Mod is integrated since this version. This is by far the biggest experiment in Complex Simple. So please read the description below before play, and if you encounter any bug please report it to me.


Homeworld 2 Complex Simple (in BIG form) Installation:
1. Extract ComplexSimple.big into the DATA folder of your Homeworld 2 game folder. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Data
2. Go to Homeworld2\Bin\Release Folder, right click on Homeworld2.exe and create a shortcut. And be sure your Homeworld 2 is already V1.1!
3. Right click the shortcut, and left click Properties, then add " -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer" to the end of the existing line in the Target box. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor -luatrace -determcompplayer
(Don't forget to click Apply)
****SPECIAL NOTE****
The command line above contains " -determcompplayer", this actually adds to the difficulty of AI players, making them very agile and efficient (typically, their attack groups will march without a rest, and this actually does good when you are playing large maps). If you want to play in a rather soothing pace, don't use this command.
If you want to play in widescreen mode, you can use " -w "and " -h " command. For example, if your screen resolution is 1366*768, you just need to add " -w 1366 -h 768" to the end of the command line. This trick won't change the proportion of 3D rendering, but it does stretch 2D graphics.

4. You can now play this mod via the new shortcut!
And if you have any trouble installing or playing this mod, just tell me, I'll examine the problem and come up with solutions at first time! If it crashes, immediately go to Bin\Release folder and open Hw2.log in NotePad, copy everthing inside and send to me via private message so I can analyze your problem.

New characters in 1.8T:
Territories Mod made by Olmys has been integrated as a new game type, which combines all the elements of Complex and Simple, while causing no interference with the classic game types, theoretically.
New music
New maps for classic game types, including two super detailed maps for 6P games (Tidal Force and Apollo Mission), each of which has more than 60MB of high resolution model! Unfortunately, maybe on account of the super detailed models, you can't load games saved in these maps.
New visual effect (Soft-Focus Filter), which is customizable in skirmish settings.
New subsystems, turrets or weapons for some ships.

I've tried multiple setups with no luck at all.. Now it just crashes to the desktop without an error window. All the other modes seem OK. The progress line is about halkf way opening the universe when it crashes out.

Oh I forget to say, I know you have extracted Territories Mod before, did you put the raw files of Territories Mod in your Homeworld2\Data folder? If so, delete the leveldata folder under Data folder! Because any file in leveldata folder could cause interference with the Big file, especially when they have same game type in same file name! In this case, you haved installed the Complex Simple 1.8T correctly, and you can see Territories game type in skirmish settings, but that file could be the original Territories Mod in your Data\leveldata folder instead of the modified one in the Big file, hence when you start a Territories game, the program is still running the old Territories Mod which before modification was not compatible with Complex Simple, and you simply crash while loading!
Am I right? Is this your case?

I don't have any folders in the data folder other then Animatics folder. All are big files. It crashes no matter what the settings are.

I've seen your Hw2.log, this is a common problem when you have many mods installed at the same time: Moddb.com
The game could remember a wrong race setting from other mods you have installed! So you just need to reset all your races in this mod, remember, there're only two races in this mod: Hiigaran and Vaygr!!!

OMG! I don't have any explanation for your situation. It's possible that your homeworld program remembered some settings from the original Territories Mod or something else! I recommend you to re-install your entire game, or install a copy of it in a new place where there's no other mods, in order to clean all the memories of your game settings.

I have another computer, a gaming laptop, (Alienware) with HW2 installed in it and just a few mods, not the Territories mod. I will try your mod it that computer in a couple of hours and let you know what the results are...If it does not work in that computer then the problem is not in the HW2 program, I would think.

I had forgotten that I saved a default copy of the HW2 program folder in case a needed to reinstall. I renamed the HW2 folder that I was using and in stalled the default copy with just your mod in it. I noticed right away that the 5 and 6 player positions showed either Hiigaran or Vaygr. My other program just showed cpu for these players no races. The Territories mode opens fine in this new install! :>)
I guess I will just keep this program for you Simplex Mod..

In fact, I see you mentioned "just showed cpu for these players no races", this can be reset easily! Just click the arrow to expand the choice list, and set them to either Hiigaran or Vaygr manually, then it will be fixed!

Hi! Territories game mod is awesome but it is only marine frigate war - they come and come and overload my crew limits so i cant build anything. I think game will be more interested if there will be limit for this - 10 marine/infiltrator frigate at once.

Well, I thought this is a way to motivate players to do the capture job, but it seems not. OK, I will apply a limit to the number of automatically spawned capture frigates, maybe I'll set the crew limit as the auto spawn limit.

I've changed "< 6 + 5 * atan(year/2)" for just "< 6" in 1627 fnd 1630 strings in territories.lua and all is ok now - not more than 6 marine/infiltrators per player, very interesting games.

In fact, I just added the following condition in line 1625:
Player_NumberOfAwakeShips(playerIndex) > 0 and pilotpopList[playerIndex + 1] < pilotrecruitList[playerIndex + 1]
This means, if you don't build enough units, capture frigates will still come like a spam until you reach the unit caps

Integrating an entire mod into Complex Simple is very tricky, this Territories game type is just an experiment. I'm not sure if I'm able to assimilate more mods...

So now we have Battle Arena and Territories mods, integrated in Complex. Last week i was looking for a new game types mods and new game settings and all interesting i found its Olmy's mods, HW:@, and HW Classic Enchanced.
There one more really interesting game type - Survival from HW:@ mod. As i see, it's less complex than Territories)
And also in HW Classic Enchanced is very interesting game settings - Bentousi roulette (randomly grants or restricts some researches) and 'Team progress meter' - shows build and research progress of your allies.

My dream is to add all of it in Complex (now i and some guys, working on remastering on Complex 7.4.4 (RE-balance or Complex 7.5 mod))..

This is the only way I could make AI works. Making CPU players behave like human does is an impossible mission for me.
As for using jump gates, big ships simply can't use them, that's more reasonable. The only way to move big ships from territories to territories is using hyperspace module, which means you must capture a Capital Ship Command Post first, hence there's more challenge and fun.

Done some tests.
Played some multiplayer games with my friends - 'territories' is very interesting mode but from 10 games ALL of them were ended by 'out of sync' error. Max game duration was 15 minutes, but mostly games crushses in 3-5 minutes.
Then we played 3 games on 'custom' game mod - first two were crushed, then in third we 3 played about 1 hour, then my game were ended by 'out of sync' message but my friedns played till the victory.
