HMS Defiance 2, a prequel of HMS Defiance, is set in 1942 and 2086. You play as a hired specialist, Stephen Cartwright, who undertakes a quest for his mysterious captain for reasons, initially, unknown. HMS Defiance 2 features several unique locations. The Library of All Knowledge is an ancient temple-like building guarded by a fanatical cult, The Guardians, who are hell bent on preventing any body passing through their territory or gaining access to the unlimited knowledge. Gateway 16 is a large space habitat that held a large portion of the remaining human population that has, unfortunately, become overrun. These locations are the two main locations but also featured is the Eighty-Fourth State and the HMS Defiance (before it met its mysterious end).
HMS Defiance 2 features a book reading system that allows you to gleam the story of the places you explore and the greater story for those interested. Through the reading system you can discover the thoughts of The Guardians, learn how the inhabitants of Gateway 16 met their end, learn of the motives and background surrounding the disappearance of the HMS Defiance and piece together the whole story. Of course, if you are not interested - you don't have to read any of it.
HMS Defiance 2 is an action / adventure story orientated mod that lasts somewhere between half an hour and an hour in play time (depending on the player and play style). HMS Defiance 2 is released and available for download as of the 20th December 2008.

HMS Defiance 2 is now released and available for download. HMS Defiance 2 is a single-player Half-life 2 mod that focuses on level design, story telling and game play. HMS Defiance 2 takes the player to the HMS Defiance, a space habitat and an ancient temple and features new weapons, an original story (separate from the Half-life storyline) and a note reading system.

Finished the 2nd and just started the 1st, I know bass ackwards lol. I am stuck, did first trip to ship and got artifact(?), went back to report to captain but his door is locked so what do I do?
Take a nap (go down to your quarters on the bottom deck and press E on the bed) and then go see the captain (if referring to HMS Defiance 2) or go to the Rec Room and jump into the green lightning and unlock the captain's doors from there (if HMSD1). Hope it helps.
I'm a bit stuck. After you've killed all those dudes when your in the room with that healing water, how do you get out?
Once they are all dead, the door will open. Proceed out of your enclosure and then through the open door in the middle of the new room. Hope this helps. If no enemies are coming and the door does not open, then it may have bugged out in which case you may have to either noclip out of the enclosure or load to the previous save.
Nope. The door didn't open, and my only save is the point when I'm in that small room. What's "noclip"? That might help.
Noclip is a cheat console command that'll allow you to go through walls. To use it, open your developer console and type in noclip. You can type noclip in console again to deactivate it. Sorry it had to come to that - that sequence USUALLY works fine.

this MOD is FREAKING AWSOME!!!!the story was great weapons were awsome everything the only thing is...where did the Captin guy go..other than that FREAKING AWSOME
