The Imperium of man stuggles to hold its borders or protect its citizens from the Gods of Chaos. The human race is no longer a progressive race, most of the weapons and vehicles they use date back to the "Dark age of Technology" long before the days of the Emperor. Instead human just copy's, repairs, improves and worships the old STC designs. The Imperim has many enemies who attack and raid imperial worlds, sometimes it is Eldar Pirates seeking pilage and slaves, or it could be the Orks simply looking for battle.
