elves arent seeming very elvish. they just seem like humans with different skin. As this so happens to be the problem with all warband mods is you might as well play vanilla cause they dont bring anything different to the board. Its looking great, it really is, but I just feels like everything is going to come down to the same things as vanilla.
What would be different enough for you? There are some things that we will be keeping secret until the release. However, we can't change too much because of the engine limitations.
more of a stylistic thing, elves are more commonly known to use scale armour if they wear something more than leather. They would also use different crafting materials than Iron and Steel. At the moment they seem like pasty humans. Of course leather armour doesnt stack up against heavy plate, but perhaps scale armour or mithril armour would be a design change that could challenge that, but leave you feel like your playing an elf or against elves rather than just a 'use different gear human'. I am basically suggesting they be better tailored as a race, of 'elves'. p.s. elves using crossbows over bows? It really doesnt sit well with what comes to mind of 'elves'
Wwell.. if elves are more common like this, doesnt it mean that they are inovating? creating "modern" elves, but yea, i see your point, i think elves should be diferent overall, not close to a common elf, but distant from a human.
First. This is Hiridia, not anything else. And therefore elves will be how it should be. With their right skin and their pointy ears.
Second. What merit would I have if I just copied LOTR and Warhammer? I studied the most important fantasy worlds in order to make my books more original and even better than all the already existent stuff.
Third. So, if you 'sometimes' you don't see fancy stuff it's because part is what is called 'low fantasy'.
Here you will see Shadow elves with crossbows and axes, not dark elves wearing mithril.
believe me, low fantasy is fine by me. But as I say, the look like humans, they dont have to have fancy armour, just variation from what the humans would outfit themselves in. And what merit would you have coping lotr? A lot, its It was a major point in fantasy novels/worlds, so taking ideas from them is only natural, but thats not what im saying it needs to be. The point I'm trying to make is what differs them from the humans? Is it just the skin and ears that makes them different? Would they still not craft things different?
They look similar to humans just like any other general elves in fantasy, they do have specific items, and if their equipment doesn't differ much from humans' it's because shadow elves don't have a faction. They live together with humans usually under human rule.
I have 6-7 books of the saga in the making and everything looks perfect. Everything has a reason. Wait for them to come out and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I trust you, sorry I'm not questioning you're lore and I actually didn't realise you had books, perhaps I should read them. I just want this mod to feel like its a new world, not just a few different places and items, best of luck mate, It does look fantastic in any case.
oh and evil angel, grow up you child, I was putting forward perfectly good criticism, I just didnt realise the lore was already there for all of this.
The books are in the making. There is just a short story published in a forum. But all the lore is done and fixed. All the kingdoms, culture, places... are final.
i wish i could turn on a undead, like a necromancer turning himself into a undead for more combat effectiveness, think in this transformation as a powerfull buff spell, that certainly would make gameplay alot badasser than it already is XD
first time i saw an elf with a crossbow
