In 1968, a man called George A Romero changed the world of horror movies forever with his groundbreaking film "Night of the Living Dead".
10 years later a sequel, Dawn of the Dead, was released, which delivered in every way possible, and continued his living dead genre. It was followed up by Day of the Dead in 1985, and Land of the Dead in 2005, and he has become one of the most iconic horror movie makers of the generation.
'Hell on Earth’, also known as '"HOE" or “Notld” for short, is a mod for the Source engine being developed by a few students and friends with a passion for horror and videogames.
The mod will be based on the George Romero universe but set in a different time, shortly after the effects of the first Romero classic, and from the perspective of a different character. You will encounter similar areas to the film such as the farmhouse and Evans city while you try desperately to find survivors to help you get somewhere safe and to figure out what’s going on.

The game will focus on fear, isolation and survival in tense situations. For example you will find a gun, but it won’t necessarily have ammunition, and even if you find some you'll still have to make very good use of it, or you'll find yourself being surrounded by the undead quicker than you can say 'fresh meat'.
We are going to make this as realistic as possible. So guns and weapons won’t be all over the place or in that place that looks safe. You won’t find much health, and will have to sit around for a while, risking your ass while the dead hunt you in order to recover HP.
Weapons you do find will be authentic to the time period and will only include for the most part a hunting rifle and a pistol, though you may find a few other useful ones if you search hard enough.
Hell on Earth is looking for people with good communication skills and a polite and dedicated attitude. Experience and previous work demonstrations or examples are required for a shot at getting on the team.

Ok, id like to take the oppurtunity to just say that me and Joker (Scott) are in the early stages of continueing the project. We'r in the process of re-doing the documentation, getting a few concepts finished and just throwing around some ideas and designs. Towards the summer holidays and in the first few weeks after college is over with, we'l probably have something to show.
Before the mod was put on hold however, we did get the final piece of music from Nathanial Chambers, our composer. That piece will be uploaded shortly along with the first few concepts.
For the time being though, i still have lots of college work to catch up with, revision for exams in June, a social life to maintain, as well as getting into the competative side of everyones favourite online fps, Counter-Strike ;) .
Thats all for now though, stay tuned.

dont worry fella's. The mod shall not die. Making a game of the movies is my all-time biggest goal. If people leave (or get kicked :) ) then i shall continue the mod myself.

CopyRights only last 50 years so depending if you relese in 2007 or 2008, you could use them without a complication with the copyright.
Yeh well that'd be cool but the movies were released in 1968 and 1990. So i dont think theres quite a 50 year gap yet :P
I'm glad to see that you guys haven't given up on this. If you're still needing help with this mod then please feel free to contact me and I will do what I can to see that this mod gets going.
