Heart Of Evil Napalm Edition
Jun 28, 2009 Full Version 29 commentsOK guys, this is what you've been patiently waiting for! Heart of Evil Napalm Edition is released today after 2 years of development. Heart of Evil Napalm...
Heart of Evil: Napalm Editon (HOE NE) is a remake of the original Heart of Evil. Heart of Evil was an enjoyable Single Player modification that truly gave the player something different - "a Single Player Half-Life mod that accurately and sensitively depicts the American 'experience' in Vietnam, right down to the laces on the zombies boots.”
HOE NE will let veterans and newcomers alike relive that experience. They put a lot of work into the original concept and we want to it endure. For that reason we updated the mod as best we can. The source code was released publicly February 1, 2007. Shortly after, we started development. By shortly, we mean months.
HOE NE features updated Models, skins and animations; revitalized Maps with new effects, visual improvements and altered gameplay; tweaked NPC and weapon code.
This is a community project. That means it’s not for profit. All work will be properly credited to its respective owners. This is not a Source project/port.

After a long wait by members of the public (and the dev team) comes the release of Heart of Evil Napalm Edition! This mod is a total conversion for Half-Life, offering players the chance to dip into the crazy world of wartornzombieinfested Vietnam. A lot of work has gone into developing this mod, so we hope that you'll all enjoy it!
For players new to Heart of Evil, you are placed into the boots of Special Forces officer Captain Percy Freeman, who is tasked with despatching the villanous (and extremely mad) Colonel Kurtz. Not long after beginning your mission you are betrayed, and forced to find your way to Kurtz on foot.
Along your way you will have to deal with rogue US Soldiers - apparently they think you're a traitor, and have been tasked with hunting you down. Not only are there US Soldiers after you, but also Huey helicopters! These Helicopters are deadly since they have front gunners, side gunners, rocket launchers and the ability to drop off troops. You'll will need to carefully plan their movement around a Huey helicopter in order to take it out with an M79 or RPG-7!

After fighting your way past rogue US forces, you come up against the uglier side of war. Unkillable zombies! Or are they? Any sort of explosive will kill a zombie, anything less than that will knock them down momentarily.

Like the original Heart of Evil we have kept the vast free roaming environments, but we have made the puzzles within them more straightforward, so that backtracking is kept to a minimum. Objectives are clearly marked with glowing markers, and the levels are also considerably easier to navigate.
We would like to thank people who have been watching the mod so patiently - we hope this lives up to your expectations! Saddle up, lock and load and head into the world of Heart of Evil...

Guess I wa right, I remembered that you have to start the game atleast once to create the sub directories lol.
Wtf, I am unable to install this mod. I have hl1 installed, but there is no folder in "steam name/ hl folder" I am runing Vista ultimate 32. Would the folder structure be different to xp when installing this?
Please help, I can't wait to play this awesome mod guys. Thanks.
You have to place the "evil" folder into the directory: Steam > SteamApps > (username here) > half-life. Try rebooting Steam after that, and you should be able to play the mod.
Well, I would if that directory exsisted. I only see HL2 and source SDK folders.
You know, I havent even tried starting HL1 first, maybe I should do that and try eh?
Haha! Great video! I will download after I reinstall HL1.
i really think that you should be able to shoot the zombies to death the poor enemy soldiers get slaughtered without any chance to fight back
to be honest not being able to kill zombies by shooting them in th head does not fallow any zombie killing technic or strategy before. its always been shoot em in the head not blow em up. to be honest i think that takes away from the game play.
IMO the zombies are fine the way they are now, in Napalm Edition they are real threats to the player instead of just cannon fodder.
the zombies are no threat for the player because u get too much explosives... they are just a threat to the other enemys o_o
To be fair, they were so difficult to kill before, that you might as well have blown them up. Besides, Quake had that very same strategy.
