Heart of Evil: Napalm Edition (HOE: NE) is a remake of the old mod Heart of Evil, a Vietnam themed war/survival horror FPS. The HOE NE Team hopes to help you relive that experience, or for those of you who haven't played it, a chance to try something new. They put a lot of work into the original concept and we want to it endure, for that reason we have updated the mod as best we can with graphics and gameplay.

Models are great, weapons are tasty and good graphics overall.
It also has unkillable zombies. The original had ones that took alot of bullets to kill which was annoying, here only explosives or a chainsaw can do the work. At first it took my off guard but it made perfect sense and ended up working brilliantly. The Levels are awesome, beautiful made.
The Alamo is a decent addon that replaces basic training.
The UFO replacement. The temple, is a nicely made and is a hell of alot better thant the UFO crap the previous mod had.

Now the bad points...
The new voices. Barney’s a little to overtop the now and it was hard to understand the 2 superiors at the beginning. Personally I think the comedy aspect is a little at odds with seriousness of vietnam and survival horror. The 3 just don't mix.
The Chapter titles are pretty much the best way to some this story up... completetly immersion breaking.

Letters. Several times I’ve been given several diary entries or multiple part letters in a single location. The game doesn't give me enough time to read them, and due to a glitch every entry from the chapter you’re in displays the text from the last read letter. Being able to store the letters is a nice idea, but its a broken gameplay element. Theres also some bad english in the redone ones.

Chopper/Truck rides are suspiciously gone. Thats a bit sucky. They may not have been entirely in keeping with the flow of the mod, but that opening chopper ride with the Wagner blaring out is surely missed.

The End. If you can even call it a ending.... A huge chunk’s been cut from the original... no zombie Barney... no nothing. It gives us this ridicolous copy pasta of the cheeziest lamest explanation as to what happens that it was barely worth reading. It tries to parody Apocalypse Now with that general at the end (and how he was mentioned in the briefing and with that scene with Killmore)
