The (Hard Core Tactical Mod) is a total conversion mod for Call of Duty 2. In this mod almost every aspect of Call of Duty 2 has been re-done in some form or another to take your Call of Duty 2 single player gaming experience to the next level. This mod is not intended for those looking for a shooting gallery type gaming experience. But if you’re looking for a real challenge and intense battles where tactics actually come in to play, then this is the mod for you.
The “Radio Base Assault” map had a bug that would prevent you from progressing to the end of the map if you did the objectives out of order. While I was fixing this bug I also gave the map a bit of a face lift. So I re-textured it and now it looks and plays much better.
There's somenthing that can be done about the water? it looks...strange.
This is the water from The Silo map. I tried using all of the other water image files in the game but they were all to bright. And when I tried to darken the image files to make it look like night water, the waves went away for some reason.
So give me a little more detail than just, it looks...strange.
Tell me specifically what you think needs to be changed or made different about the water. If any of you have any suggestions on how to make the water look good in the night time, I'd like to hear them.
I think what looks off in the map (at least for me) is the fog colour - it's too bright for a dark map. I would suggest to test out different darker fog colours like for example, the skybox's colour.
For the skybox colour the code would look something like this in the .MAP file:
setCullFog (###, #####, 0.2824, 0.3255, 0.3333, 0 );
where the #'s are your fog distances
That's a good idea. I'll play around with the setCullFog values and see if I can make the fog a little better. But do you know how to make the river water darker without loosing the waves?
I can make the water look darker in photo shop but then it looks flat and the waves stop working.
Well...it's exactly that: it looks too bright.
About the possible reasons why the waves disappears when you try and esit the file, well...I dunno.
The first thing that crosses my mind is that it's probably something related to the alpha channel of the texture...but I might be wrong about that.
Or it's something related to the normal map.
I thought about the alpha channel too. But when I look at the alpha channel of the texture, it's all black. There's got to be a way to make this darker and keep the waves, but from looking at the image file, I can't tell how it's done.
See this tutorial, it might help a bit (it's for CoDUO, but it might work):
Modsonline.com
Also, I found some water-related files in these directories:
iw_04.iwd\materials
iw_04.iwd\materials_dx7
iw_07.iwd\materials
iw_13.iwd\materials
You could experiment by modifying some of the files.
IMHO this map always looked a bit wrong. It's very well made, but the lighting looks strange, especially the fog, with buildings showing up abruptly. If anything could be improved, it's the lighting. Instead of rain, the map could be set during clear weather; this way you could also solve how the water looks.
I really look forward to this mod, Slikk1! You're doing an amazing job ;)
Nice~!
Out of curiosity, will the enemy still be just Wehrmacht soldiers, or will there be Luftwaffe/Fallschimjäger troops instead/as well? Reason I ask is because in most mods featuring this map, the enemy are usually Luftwaffe troops, either Fallschinjäger/paratroopers, or standard Luftwaffe infantry.
I hadn't planned on putting any more work into this map, but having Luftwaffe troops in this map sounds interesting. I'll think about it.

I just took a look at the Radio Base mission and its just fine as it is. I have already made a few changes to this mission in HCTM 2.0 so I'm not going to do any more to it than I already have.
However, there are Fallschirmjäger and Luftwaffe troops that show up in other missions in HCTM 2.0 so you'll still get a chance to face them as well as fight along side them.
Ah, alright. That's cool. ^^
I was just thinking that it would be interesting to have some special unit guarding the Radio Base. But, then again, the Wehrmacht Heer, I believe, had special units of their own.
Either way, this is definitely one of the most interesting mod maps, I love how you put it in the correct campaign list as opposed to putting it in the American campaign after the Hill 400 missions.
