That it is.
That movie scared the hell out of me as a child, so the soundtrack seemed fitting.

Scared me too. I walked in on the scene where the Alien walks out during the children birthday party. I slept with a bat and a glass of water for a week. lol

Similar thing happened to me when I was a little kid, my Mother mistakenly took me on Alien Encounter at Disney. I would sleep with a toy gun (like that would've helped lol)

Well it appears that Flood mode is suicidal.

A couple guys have held out. If you play with AI though, they always get slaughtered. More bodies = more flood.

Is there any way you can make the AI better against flood? I prefer SP and I don't want it to be me against the flood, that doesn't sound too great.

Disable flood.

^This. Toggling Flood mode on is pretty similar to turning on a "hoarde" mode.

wondering if you and Lord_Set can work together and bring a new "Reaper" mode in lieu of flood.

It could be done, but we honestly don't have the time to devote to something like that. He'd have to do it himself.

Earlier this evening, me and Sloosecannon played an online game together to fight the flood, weve actually completely cleared and fortified our home system against the flood and were expanding against THEM

Flood mode is more like Firefight or Horde mode from other games instead of just having a Pirate faction enabled (except friendly fire is enabled, since you have to ally specifically.). When you enable the Flood you're playing against the Flood. Everyone else is a distraction.

This movie terrified me when I was younger, still one of the only ones that gets me.

I was expecting tea and crumpets, with a spot of opium and a chat about the previous game of cricket. I guess we'll have to civilise the Flood by any means necessary then until they truly appreciate civilisation!

one of my friends refused to play this mod til another faction was added, maybe now i can convince him to play this with me and help defend against the flood. but i have a few questions.

why do the flood get a whole bunch of ships that just randomly jump to a specific planet from outside the system?

and are starbases able to be taken instantly by the flood like super MACs and other defenses?

i am guessing mines are still the best way to go

Reply Good karma Bad karma+4 votes

I agree with this person. The flood should get starting ships - But shouldn't be reinforced by some mysterious place. Perhaps give each flood ship the ability to infect another ship every 5 minutes or so?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
-Defender0-
-Defender0-

the flood infect ships faster than that. Also, the fleets you see jumping in are ships that create the "snowball effect" of the flood. Every time the flood capture a planet, more flood ships appear, and they spread out, looking for other planets. And the cycle repeats.

Ah, I see, so the conquered systems don't continuously create units? It's just a one time thing?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes
-Defender0-

Yes, and it happens upon colonization. However, any flood captured planet CAN spawn flood raids.

Reply Good karma Bad karma+3 votes

ok thanks for clearing that up, but can they take starbases like they can orbital defenses?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+4 votes

They can't take starbases, which makes them one of the few effective defenses. The rest of the structures and defenses are all fair game though.

Reply Good karma+3 votes

ok cool, I remember that in the current version they could take defenses, they took my super MACs and killed my fleet the first time I fought them :(

Description

A quick map overview showing a game with the Flood enabled. They have a 30 minutes wait timer, so they show up around 2:48 minutes in. It's all downhill from there though, as you'll notice a "snowball" effect take place. This is due to the fact that every planet the Flood captures spawns additional flood raids.

Also, strangely, the replay doesn't show me (the light blue UNSC) expanding at all. Unfortunate, but you can still see me holding my planet at the end by the skin of my teeth.
