agreed pelicans are more of a planet side type of aircraft not ment for space (they could be used for ships that colonize planets the lil ships that come out)
Yeah like some ships deploying an invasion force of pelicans instead of hammering the planet into submission with weaponry? Besides i doubt the UNSC can even depopulate a planet without nuclear weaponry as effectively as the covenant and using MACs combined with ARCHER missiles is a waste of ammo...
Eh....Well the UNSC kinda worked towards saving their nukes for naval combat where they needed it. Pelicans would be interesting for some planetary combat fluff but that would have to coincide with colonization when the forces "win".
Eh, probably best to stick with nukes then....Or even have the ships use their MACs to pwn a planet
Nope, UNSC is going to use planatary invasions instead of bombardment. The Covenant system is going to be composed of partial and total planetary glassing.
Partial will allow colonization afterwards, while Full glassing will make it uncolonizable for a long time.
will the covenant ships turn parallel to the surface of the planet and use a beam from their ventral sides to glass, or are they gonna remain perpendicular to the planet? cuz sins, for a space game, is remarkably 2 dimensional, and i dunno if ships are able to turn like that. just curious
Actually SINS is on a relatively 2-d plane I doubt you used youre ships like in the homeworld games where you can take your ships of the map my going down or up.
i just had a great idea, you should make a pelican take the place of a bomber squadron.
nahh pelicans should be transports
How is that a great idea? Longsword bombers and Sabre fighters. Job done.
Pelicans weren't made for bombing anyway. Though I have a feeling they're shown when using colonize? =3
Aren't they too small to be seen during colonize?
depends on the size of the ship but probably won;t be visible if used for that role, and lord no need to be hostile i just really like the idea
How about the ships seen in Halo Wars, the larger blocky transports used to drop off base parts, a lot bigger than pelicans

i think i jsut came a little...
ok, now go clean up.

nukes seem better

you guys should post a video so we can see the mechanics so far ..... i want to see some glassin :)
So would that mean it would take 30 months to fully glass a planet as described in Halo Reach?

dude, it is nowhere near 2-d. I have had ships every which location pretty much every which way. Cept upside down i think.
