Uh-oh. Both UNSC and Covenant technology is a heck of a lot inferior to Forerunner technology. How are you going to balance that out, CanadaMan?

High costs and upkeep, as well as an as-of-yet unannounced new style of play for the Forerunners. Trust me, they'll play very differently than the UNSC and Covenant.

It's a way of nerfing them, without slashing any of their ships' uberness.

I think that's a rather harsh way of putting it.
I like the ship very much, it's quite cool, although as this guy so delicately said it doesn't look all that forerunner, I think it's because it's more dark grey than the usual light grey forerunner tech.

These are from Origins aren't they? I recognize them. My advice is like what's already been said, give them a lighter grey skin. But also, I'd change the gun part on these to make them a bit longer and bigger.

Sorry I didnt mean to use WTF....How about What the hell! Anyways it requires some lights and the forerunner sentinel from halo legends that leveled the forerunner city looks more like the Advent Crusader HC imho :). Also, I like the model but the textures need work

Humans are descendent's of forerunners and there tech should be similar, in my opinion. I like this ship! But I do agree, Maybe a lighter gray

Sweet is they halo ring there super weapon???

Tormidal
Tormidal - - 185 comments

I highly doubt it. A halo ring wasn't meant to fire on its own, there were 7 that are supposed to fire in unison. But, being the forerunner, I guess its conceivable they built a smaller scale one for independent fire.

However, its up to Blamtroid and his crew.

Star Base = The Ark. I would do that.

CanadaMan7 Author
CanadaMan7 - - 2,586 comments

Due to game hardcodes, it would be difficult to implement the Halo array in a canon way. We'll see though.

And actually Blamtroid runs Covenant at War, not SotP.
Though I'd probably still listen to what he has to say anyways.

Has everyone forgotten that in Halo 3 Installation 04 was fired independently from the network?? That could be used as justification for a Local halo superweapon for the Forrunners.....

I think in that case, Since 04-b was ready to fire but still under construction, it was purposely disconnected from the rest of the network. This way, in the event that the halo array was activated, any ring being built to the point where it could fire couldn't so it didn't kill everybody at the ark.
That or a much simpler idea, the communications array on the ring are simply built last.

make the halo array use a combination of the tec novalith cannon and the vasari kostura cannon but modify it so it will derelict or something similar to the ships. thats what i would do.

i tried that already it takes too long to destroy everything and there is no way to turn it off until it shoots the system that its in whithout destroying player pleasure. it also can still be fired at single targets.

With the Halo array, could you use it as a special weapon? Kind of like how the Vasari have those mobile defense stations in Entrenchment.

halo instalations are only found orbiting gas giants, because they use the gas as an energy sorce or something like that

Well if you have read the new Forerunner novel Cryptum there were originally 12 and they could fire tactical pulses that were small and didnt cause the firing of all the others. If the halo's become the super weapon for the forerunners then what it should be able to do is when it fires then all ships, both enemy and friendly, in the gravity well should be eliminated. If not then there could always be shield worlds like Onyx made out of billions of sentinels. also the halos in the book are capable of slipspace travelling....

Will there be Forerunner Keyships/Dreadnaughts as well?
And will they be scale to other Human/Covie ships?
Also how is the Heart of Midlothian Style ship coming along?

mabye if ur awesome enough, u could make it so that you had to build at least one forerunner ark ( starbase) before you could fire the halo arrays which could be the super weapon... ( like the TEC's novalith or the vasari's kostura)

But in this case you'd have to remove the Halos as a possible artefact, which means that if you played UNSC vs. Covies you'd never find a Halo...

I would instead suggest making forerunners and sentinels the indigenous militia forces on unclaimed planets. That would make more sense, seeing as how leftover forerunner machinery had no agenda of controlling the galaxy, gaining power, or exterminating any particular faction. That, and they would be overpowered. To balance them would in itself require making the forerunners less impressive and serious as they should be.

I think they're making the Forerunners and the Flood so we can play during the Forerunner-Flood War for a change. It's not necessarily during the Human-Covenant War.

You should add more lights, I always thought the Forerunner ships are a mixture of Human and Covenant designs, the are not curvy so they look a bit more human-ish but they have the distracting lights everywhere and they look powerful.

it isnt sentinel, because the sentinels were constructed to protect the Forerunner homeworld, the Ark, and the Halo Array! This is FORERUNNER, not sentinel, because it looks the exact same way a ship looked like from Halo: Legends, the first Halo movie.

Yeah, that looks about right. I remember Canada posting a pic of what is most likely that ship but from a diff angle

Also, looking at this pic, ive noticed several other ships, which look sort of like probe droids from star wars, are those going to be implemented?

3 words, capturable-neutral object. Cann the halo ring in the game be like the neutral ore collectors? Capturable, then useable? Will the game allow for that?

forerunner starbase: the ark
Covenant starbase: high charity

human squadron hangers should be like ANCHOR 9 from HALO REACH

also HALOs and abandoned forerunner installations should just lie around in uncolonizeable wells and should be neautral

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
raeman1901
raeman1901 - - 267 comments

@ tchyeah

1) The Ark is HUGE! Waaaaay too big to be a starbase. If anything, it would have to be a planet type. God knows how that can be done.

2) The covie starbase has already been revealed, it is similar to high charity, but smaller, cos high charity is also HUGE!

3)Halo installations are still pretty up in the air, because its been noted it will be very hard to code them. They may just be used as eye candy.

4)Anchor 9 would serve better as a starbase in my opinion. Maybe a hanger could be developed which is similar, but smaller. Or they can make an anchor 9 hanger thing but make an upsized and upgraded one for a starbase, who knows?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote

isnt anchor 9 just a ship yard in the game? it has AA not MAC or Archer missles.

Yeah, you've got a point there. Thats why i was exploring the idea of a starbase built around the anchor 9 look. Make it bigger, with some nice big anti-ship turrets on it or something

That makes sense. I imagine it would launch NOVA bombs. Would probably have the same effect as the novalith.

Responding to ancient containment protocols, sentinel factories began producing a variant of sentinels not seen since the Flood-Forerunner war some 100,000 years earlier.
