A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
The title says it all. We simply don't have enough people who can UV and texture ships and structures. We need experienced people with a passion for Halo and FREE TIME to help! Comment below or message me (Unikraken) directly!
You'll be working on stuff that may be used in both Sins of the Prophets and Homefront, so you're getting two modding positions for one!
These look neat. I'd volunteer if I had the required skills. Oni prowler on the bottom right, yeah?
I really wish I had the skills to help, hopefully someday soon, university permitting, I can start learning.
Replacement Covenant titan on the top left? Looks like the one Cole took down over Harvest, but I'm sure that's already been posted and you guys have already had this conversation.
Anyway, like everybody else I would absolutely love to help, but don't have the skills. I've said that a lot and should probably do something about it. I'm guessing texture artists are harder to come by than modelers? What do I start playing with to learn about texturing models? I'm not completely new at messing with textures, but have no idea how UV mapping and grafting textures to models or anything like that works. If somebody wants to send me a quick message about this stuff and where to start, that'd be cool. I realize I probably won't be able to help you guys for a while, but at least I could be of some use at some point.
Youtube, google, etc. Thats how I learned.
I'd be willing to tutor if that'd mean these guys get help. I don't have much time in a row, but either by skype or by mail I could give some assistance. Though not great with texturing myself, I do know how to UV unwrap and know the basics of texturing.
I should be able to learn most of the basics on my own, but I'll make sure to get back to you if I'm having trouble. Thanks, offering to help really means a lot.
See this link for a quick how and what about texturing.

I'll love to help, but I don't know if my style of texture really fits for Homefront and Sins of the Prophets.
That tutorial is really dated, you're not supposed to use shadow and emboss filters anymore, that's what normal maps are for and if you mess up the shadows then the normal map doesn't look right.
That tutorial did at least help me understand the process we're looking at a little better. I think I can pick up the actual artistic part fairly easily, but pasting the texture on the model I still don't fully understand. You just look at a particular side of your model, create a linear outline and start painting away? How one places that side texture on the model is still a mystery to me, but I'll worry about that later. I foresee many youtube videos in my future.
