In the spring of 2542, the outlying UEG desert colony of Sansar was gripped with hunger and violence as the planet was blockaded and occupied by Covenant forces. Despite having the necessary ships to make short work of the planet, the commanding Prophet did not choose to glass the world's supple civilian population centers due to confusing sensor reports of possible forerunner artifacts beneath many of the major cities. It was with time stretching on and a quarter of the population starved to death that the UNSC Seventh Fleet was forced into action. In one of the most widely publicized fleet actions of the war, the United Nation ships were able to rout the relatively small enemy battlegroup. A painting was later made to immortalize the fleet as famed liberators, though the news that the planet in question was glassed in late 2543 was quietly buried in the wave of propaganda following the events of the Battle of Psi Serpentis.
