Description
The term "Gas Giant", is a misnomer. About 500 kM below the atmosphere of Sol's largest gas giant, Jupiter, is 55,000 kM of liquid hydrogen. At the core, is a mix of solid iron and silicate compounds.
Looking realistc and sexy.
It's only liquid because of the IMMENSE pressures present that deep in the giant. However, the core is solid. That is at least how it was explained to me.
So you say that NASA is wrong.. ?
He isn't saying that. He is stating that 500 km of atmosphere have created such a high pressure that the gas is compressed into a liquid. Something that NASA will know.
Temperature isn't the only factor that determines the state of matter, pressure also affects it.
So, even though temperatures are huge there, the immense pressure condenses matter into a liquid or solid state (depending of pressure).
About the core: The core is often described as rocky, but its detailed composition is unknown, as are the properties of materials at the temperatures and pressures of those depths.

NASA is now about 2 years or so out with its new mission to Jupiter called Juno. The first mission targeted specifically at the planet to study its atmosphere and structure. They plan to map its magnetic field. Study chemical make up. And they strapped a Radiometer to it to peal away the clouds and get a good read on what is underneath
That doth look might appealing. Will there be 'Red Spot' type storms?
