one thing that would really help this mod be closer to the halo games is if the archers didn't go up and then straight but rather just a straight line from the hull like a subs torpedo
Actually they are guided, if a covenant ship can dodge a MAC thats going 0.2 the speed of light, its going to be able to dodge some missiles moving at subsonic speeds. The archers have to be guided, otherwise they would simply NEVER hit.
they are guided and they go strait, the missiles only guide when the target moves, AND when they are arching, human ships always go head on because that is where their mac is, if they broadsided they could shoot missiles strait.. the launchers are on sides and mac is on front if it wuzn't guided the missile would simply fly blankly sideways into space and obviously hit nothing, so they have to be guided or else they would have to turn to shoot missiles then turn back around to shoot the mac, so it makes proper since to be guided unless u just want a firework show from the guy next to u exploding lol
I like it but I do have two small tips. One; I'd tone down the Archer's trail a bit because it seems too thick and too bright, it'd distract players and you'd loose sight over the battlefield too easily I think. Two: I think you should make the explosion five times that small. In the books the missiles basicly did no damage. The best way to show that would be to have small(er) explosions. But that's just my two cents.
@chakotay02: That's the explosion of the SHIP dying; that explosion would be large no matter what killed it due to the fusion reactors and all the explosives and oxygen inside.

Archer missiles ARCH! OH-D-S-T got it exactly right. UNSC ships present their front to the enemy in order to fire their MAC's and present a low target profile. The Archers are mounted on the sides and thus must fire perpendicular then curve around towards the target. After that, though, they go mostly straight except for tracking and evasive maneuvers (if any).
There are numerous times in the books where the writer would mention the "exhaust plume" from the missles being the only visible thing in space streaking towards their enemy so it would seem right that theyre nice and pretty looking :P. OH and canadaman, two questions. 1- Do MAC rounds pack the punch they do in the books? and 2- Are you including the super MAC cannons mentioned in Fall of Reach and shown in H2? (if so, those things are covenant ship killers...err obliterator is more like it >:])
MACs are kinda like snipers curretnly. Packs the big punch and can do it from across half a gravity well. I'm definitely going to add in SMACs though. Just a matter of time...
I also plan to replace the MAC bullet with a scaled down version of the Novalith Cannon' bullet.

it makes no sense that archers go "straight" they fire out from the sides of the ship, so unless the ships turn sideways whenever they want to fire archers (which clearly they do not due to the placement of the MAC cannons in the ships) so it only makes sense that the missles would fire away from the ship THEN alter course to its intended target. YES they go straight AFTER they ARCH towards their target...
If I could offer a suggestion. Why don't you have the archer's curve out horizontally instead of vertically? Thats how I always pictured them launching. Just my opinion though.
These are much better than the ones from the vid, but I always got the idea archers arced off to the side, not to the top. But either way it's a good job.
