A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series. The sides will be the UNSC and the Covenant with the forerunners/sentinels and the flood acting as non-playable factions. The custom created maps will revolve around the destruction/detonation of the Halos depending on your faction while the original maps will have the feel of Sins but with Halo flavor.

A remodeled and textured longsword.

Isn't the Longsword supposed to be a Fighter, not a bomber? Sure it could be a multi-role fighter, but from the books, it clearly states the Longsword as a Fighter.
actually, it say "fighter bomber"
Yeah, the Longsword is definately a fighter, the other alternatives would be making the Shortsword the UNCS bomber (which would be against canon because it was an atmospheric bomber), make a completely new bomber (not totally against canon, because it could exist), or make it a multi-role fighter-bomber (which again is not necessarily against canon because it is never specifically referred to as only a fighter). After all, the Spirit of Fire was a repurposed colony ship, so what would stop the UNSC from repurposing Longswords to become multi-role?
Then again, if this mod were to be 100% canon, players who play as the UNSC would consistently get their asses kicked.
You just need strategy, a lot of it. But would make things more interesting: having the MAC guns as deadly ones, and not as regular weapons, but rather like overpowered hability-wise Gauss shots, and making the ships suffer from the effects they suffer in the Halo Universe, it would definitely be fun to play. Remember that Covenant ships had a lapse of inactivity as soon as they got out of slipspace; if this could be applied, it'd be a little advantage definitely. Plus, if when you shoot plasma, you can make the shields go down momentarily, oh man :V
That is very true, I'm not saying I wouldn't play it if it were 100% canon, I would play it even more, after all Sins is a Real-Time STRATEGY game. Having Covenant ships suffer from things like that would be awesome. Same with the MAC guns. What I'm saying canon-wise is that the Covenant almost always had larger numbers of ships in battles and they always had the UNSC beat technologically, all the USNC had was, essentially, Human ingenuity and the ability to outsmart the Covenant, tactically as well as strategically.
Also, regarding the Longsword, this is an excerpt from Halopedia:
"...They are also used in attack runs against Covenant capital ships, delivering high-yield missiles, Shiva nuclear warheads, or even free-floating Moray space mines, to or near their targets. ... They can also be used in planetary environments by functioning as fighter-bombers, destroying ground targets from the air..."
So the Longsword could easily be used a multi-role craft, same with the Covenant I don't remember them having bombers. They never really needed them, they just glassed the planet.
Also,
"the ship presents itself as less of a fighter-bomber and more of a dedicated bomber and close support craft. "
Also, instead of using the Longsword in the fighter/interceptor role, it can be used in the bomber role, with the Skyhawk (Fall of Reach, page 261) filling the fighter/interceptor role.
A long sword is a fighter bomber, as seen in the halo2 cut scene, a pair of them bomb a covenant assault carrier to open up the reactor area so the chief can dump his bomb in for them. In the first halo2 E3 video, they bombed a big covenant gun
Well, I'm not having them be a straight fight-bomber. I'm having fighter and bomber variants.
E3 videos are not always canon.
Just because something bombs something else, it doesn't make it a bomber. Many present day fighters can carry UGMs (Unguided Munitions such as bombs) and not be considered bombers.
But it wasn't an E3 vid it was part of Halo 2.
Yeah but they are considered fighter bombers then, just like what the Longsword is. And plus he has just stated he is having different variants like they do in todays airforces. The same aircraft can be adapted to many different roles, just like the Longsword can.
