A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.

Guys in all seriousness the size of the ship nearly broke the game its nearly the size of a star when scaled to the rest of the Covenant.
In all seriousness this test confirmed what we already knew. The CSO is way too big for Sins. It nearly crashed the game by itself.
Amazing! And can you give us some perspective as how big the CSO is in game?

I'd suggest an optional add-on, that another team could completely build, so that way if people really did want to unbalance their game that much they could.
Its not even that it is unbalanced we cannot scale the ship to the rest of the Covenant faction. See that small UNSC ship. That is the Orion Battlecruiser.
Why not scale the ship to be bigger than the assault but smaller than the super carrier, make it a 2nd option for covenant titan. Call it the...not-as-super carrier.
Probably for the best to not release the CSO as-is. Even if you suck massive warming lables everywhere saying "this will crash your game" you'd still get those people going "This crashes my game!!!1111"
If you really wanted this you could always do it yourself.
I must say though even if it crashes the game, you did a really great job on that ship, it looks great.
It is literally just the CAS up-scaled, exactly what lazy *** Bungie did.
It could be released as an addon? I just want to use that beautiful ship.
That covenant CCS VS Executor.
I am a halo fan but the executor would win star wars tech is more advanced than halo
Maybe but its two different "tech styles" battling its like star trek vs star wars both are based of different tech so nobody knows who would win.
I knew this was what Kraken was going to say :P
Although I don't share the dev team's overall negative opinion on the CSO, I do agree it wouldn't fit well into the mod. Due to it's size, it would have to be scaled down, which in itself causes some issues with how the mod feels canon-wise, but even if it were down-sized, it would be far too similar to the Assault Carrier to distinguish itself in-game. It would cause both visual confusion and mechanic redundancy, as it would almost literally be an Assault Carrier but 5-6x stronger. This would also cause a lot of severe balancing issues.
All-in-all it's just more of a headache than it's worth to put in and the team seems to understandably feel that it has other, higher priorities.
If anyone needs a good reference point on how ridiculous the size of some ships get in Halo, someone on the Bungie forum made this neat little program, just follow the red blocks; Halo.bungie.org
True about the sizing problem. Its more trouble than its worth. Besides, the new titan (not the Super-Destroyer, the Covenant Battleship) is going to be pretty insane as it is.
Exact same thing, just a different name.
I wanted to make another witty response but that thing is just way to big. :\
Well when UNSC players kill one it makes for a good firework.
looks great :)
You could use it as a addon, considering of how popular many people requested it. However, it does seem to be too massive of a warship to be in a game, though like other mods; Galactic Empire, Star Wars Interregnum, they were able to get their Imperial Super Dreadnaughts in the game.
I would be one of those people who would love to have the CSO-Class but then again there would be more work for you guys. You can either scale it down or just not do it at all.
SoaGE was able to balance those very Star Dreadnaughts by having their supply costs be massive, I believe the Imperial Executor was about 780 supply. Even with Large Fleet Sizes active that's no small number.
There was also incredible production costs associated with it and a very very long time for it to actually be built.
Me I look at this ship and all I is see is one big massive sign with a bullseye that says "look at where ALL my resources went!"
An exceedingly costly investment and quite the risk to use.
But if it works then oh boy someone is gunna be happy in their pants, hint it's me.
If you make it a flood ship then maybe people will see why it shouldn't be in game.
I have always wanted this ship in the game tho i just stayed silent about it.I would be so happy if they actually added it to the mod or atleast as an add-on but even if they dont id still keep playing the mod tho not as happy as i would be.
Tho if i knew how i would just make a copy of the cas-class in the mod and find a way to make it bigger on my own but i dont know how to do that sadly.
Why people still are asking for a CSO is beyond me, although imo the current "titan" for the Covenant is a bit underwhelming just by its size, it's actually pretty laughable :D
Because just look at it i mean how can anyone who loves the covenant not want something that amazing
Using a CSO sounds kinda like dividing by zero
I'd really enjoy this being added in as a sort of April fools joke addon for the sheer fact that the ship it's self dwarfs some of the smaller planets.
"Community: I NEED TO HAVE THAT RECONZ RIGT NOW I DONT CARE ABOUT GAEMZE CRESHZING JUST GIVE ME THAT VERISON OF THE MODZ WHERE EVERYTHING IS RIGHT SIZED"
"Dev: 'Released the version the community wants"
"Community: WHAT IS THIZ KIND OF SHIETZ THE GAEMSE CRASHZ WHEN I BUILDZ THE SHIPZ !!! YOU GUYSZ SUCKS!!!111!!1!!!!1!"
That about sums it up
I almost want to say give "those people" in the community a version where it includes the ship, add a major disclaimer, and let them learn their lesson as their game crashes again and again. Their fault for not reading the disclaimer/install info.
Unfortunately, the likely result would be hate mail...April fools joke?
I think the covenant over compensates for something lol :)
The most i could ever see it as is a planet replacement for a scenario mission. Sure, scale it down a bit so its not STAR sized, but its not unheard of that a single ship can act as a command and control station. I dont see why that isnt plausible.
Like the one person way up on the comment list said make an addon for it and put a warning that way people who want it can get it and people who don't dont have to have it
one thing to say: FIRE ALL THE MACS WE MUST BRING IT DOWN
Halopedia.org
Length: 28.960 kilometers (95,013 ft 1 in)
Width: 11.447 kilometers (37,555 ft 9 in)
Height: 3.563 kilometers (11,689 ft 8 in)
You guys are crazy wanting something this size in game. also those of you who are saying, But Galactic Empire Has SSDs
Starwars.wikia.com
Length 19,000 meters or 19 Kilometers.
The CSO is almost 10km longer then Darth Vader's flagship
SoaSE is horrible for scale. The 4k CAS take up vast swaths of planets where as in cannon they would be specs relative to the planet. This is of course due to scale constraints; we wouldn't want to have cruisers the size of current fighters.
I dont want to hear it they plan on adding matles approach and look at it
Length 142.7 kilometers (88.7 mi)[1]
Width 138.6 kilometers (86.1 mi)[1]
Height 371.4 kilometers (230.8 mi)
its so much bigger than the cso
Large address aware?
Personally i dont see the point in building titans since Super mac plats kill in one shot. I happen to be a cov player and agree the CSO is over sized but down sizing is always an option. But the cov battleship might not cut it against the infinity. Also I'm of the opinion they are not going to work on the cov much after they finish the Unsc imo
