A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
Here's a few renders about the Cradle, the UNSC's mobile repair station. It's one of the most useful ships to have in a fleet, thanks to the suite of passive and activated repair buffs. It is, however, totally unarmed.
Also, about last night:
There were obviously some problems getting the beta out and with only the intended content being released. That being said, if you can be patient and let us sort out a stable UNSC beta, it WILL be available this weekend. You have my apologies, guys. No one wants this damn thing out more than I do.
Brilliant work here again!!!
Not to really be a debbie downer but i thought the Cradle was a giant 1km by 1km square piece of titanium A battle armor ...
"The UNSC Cradle was essentially a large square plate of Titanium-A armor, a kilometer to a side, capable of refitting six destroyers, three from her upper surface, and three from her lower surface, in a matter of hours or days.[1] It was crewed by only 30 people (in addition to the EVA crews)." -Quoted from the Halo Wiki. So yes XtremeRoflcopter, you are (somewhat?) correct on this. The render still looks pretty damn good though.
Look at the comics.

looks like the concept art to me...

You know when I read the book with this, I imagined it being some huge square piece of metal with some engines and 6 ports to repair ship, this looks totally better than I ever imagined.
Would be neat if it had an ability to have all the fire focused on it for a short time.
I believe we do have that, believe it or not...
Woot
Its gonna make me extremely sad when I have to use this a "meat shield" to protect my fleet from the opening salvo. That part in the book really torn me up as it showed just how desperate the war had become.
"In July 2552, it was present at the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV. The Cradle was used as a shield for the Fleet when the Covenant attacked and it was sacrificed so that the rest of the UNSC Fleet could be protected from a salvo of plasma fire.No escape lifeboats were launched and the entire crew was killed. They were avenged moments later when the UNSC Fleet destroyed seven Covenant ships and damaged many others with their MAC volley fire. The remains of the station were pushed into high orbit above Sigma Octanus after the battle."

I read that in the fall of reach, poor people but it was necessary to win the battle.
Wasn't it larger?
Each bay on the side of the ship holds a cruiser. Our Cradle is bigger than the canon one.
Wow, if so then, this thing is not just huge but really useful too.
Because when you want to build something like that it makes sense for it to be able to repair every kind of ship your fleet has.
so size does matter?
Looks amazing!
A truly beautiful ship
Looks glorious!
could y'all post an unbaked pic of it
I do like the variation from the concept art. In the art it looked as if there were a small city or tower like structures, which wouldnt make sense for a 30+ man crew (Plus EVA). Those, what look like, service stations seem like a better representation of its role
I feel it needs to be wider, but, meh, just my opinion
i am just excited to try it, if it takes longer, fine by me :)
This is going to be... really damn big. No AA defense at all? Also, what is the current model that was in the release? Was it an older model, or just a placeholder of some kind?
what I don't understand is why the UNSC would make repair rigs bigger then warhsips xD
