I think it's because this was seen in Halo: Reach and both mod teams modeled it based off of what they saw in game.
Our model was used as the main reference source. But the original source is from Halo Reach.

The new UNSC frigate shipyard, based off of the Halo Reach model. No industrial-based planet is complete without them.
