Ever since Halo: Combat Evolved opened with the descent of the Pillar of Autumn toward the alien ring world known as Halo, the vehicles and spacecraft of Halo have featured heavily in the plot, setting and cinematic of Bungie's masterpiece series. While the games had followed the UNSCDF's fight from a ground-side perspective, there was always the back drop of war with the Covenant waged on two fronts; while the troops of both factions clashed on the ground, their monumental warships fought for supremacy in orbit. Kilometer long vessels battled their counterparts in titanic, decisive conflicts that often decided the fate of the planet below them.

We bring you the chance to experience Halo from space, in orbit and among the stars. In Homefront, you can command warships that stretch for kilometers and field dozens of weapons. Build nimble frigates which dip and weave in combat against their counterparts and strafe larger ships. Construct heavily specialized carriers able to dispatch dozens of fighters or drones, or explore more atypical, exotic weapons.

  • Play as either the slow, steady and economically minded UNSC, or the heavily armed and aggressive Covenant. Both sides will be asymmetric to each other, providing a varied experience.
  • Play on maps featuring key Halo locations and backdrops - Earth, Sanghelios, Reach and even the Halo rings themselves.
  • New UI features, new music, new voices and new ships - We intend to replace as much as we can from the vanilla Homeworld 2 experience to bring you a total conversion worthy of the Halo universe.
  • A tailored, well rounded game - Our vision isn't simply to bring Halo to Homeworld 2, but to make a game that is fun, balanced and within reason. The mod is based sometime before the fall of Reach, so will not include any new UNSC tech post Halo 3. Furthermore, there will be no playable flood or Forerunner faction.
  • Revival of multiplayer and competitive gameplay - While we do provide an excellent AI in skirmish, our goal is for Homefront to be played against other individuals. To this end, we will be supporting an online player community as much as we possibly can. This also means that we do not currently plan on a campaign, but will not rule one out in the future.
  • Ship designs and unit choices that are more dictated by gameplay than simply following canon for the sake of canon. HHF is Halo based, but if we feel like we can improve on something, we will try our best to do so in a manner that stays as close to established lore as possible.

Halo: Escalation Issue #6 came out today. Although they changed it up a bit, this ship was in one of the panels:


This ship has appeared in canon before, and it closely resembles this old model V3LO did a long time ago (2008):

Note that the Marathon-class Heavy Cruiser is still located in the aft section of the ship in the comic, except that it looks to be fully implemented into the ship's design. They've taken artistic liberties and the aft side armor looks like a blend of SOTP's supercarrier, which was also partially influenced by V3LO.

We're very proud to have contributed to Halo canon in some way, wether or not we've been credited. After all, Homefront is made non-profit and follows Microsoft's EULA so everything we've done for Halo belongs to Microsoft and 343i and is free for them to use.

just a interesting thought! the unsc ships have to face the enemy all the time in order to fire their MACs how are you going to fix this problem as most ships in home world go broad side as they enter combat, also the 'slug' for the mac gun is'nt a ion beem or missile so what SFX have you got cooked up for us?

Its simple, in the ship scripts there is a group of code that reference how that individual ship acts when confronting certain enemies. So for the mac to be most effective we would set this script that when against cap ships and decent sized ships, it will point its nose at them and then there are bit about strafing or standing but nonetheless in combat (whether attack movement or normal attack) the nose will be pointed at the target.

Then in the weapon scripting we set the MAC as a "dumb" cannon which essentially makes it only fire when pointed directly at a target that it is approved to attack. This will even apply if the ship is attacking fighters yet is pointed, within range, of a capital ship.

people i need help if any one would be nice enough to help i would appreciate it(And give you 1,000,000 dollars monopoly money), like everyone else im waiting for the halo homefront mod to come out well i was messing around on my computer and some how i deleted my homeworld 2 game well i try to re-install it and it says "we cannot find 'D:\REGIS~18.URL'" if this has happened to anyone and they fixed it please help me i somehow fixed it one time but i dont remember how and that makes me sad please help...........PLEASE!

1.09 Release: As I said before, the HHF have done a superb job with the Ships, they are highly detailed (The Blast Windshield, the Marathon Hangar Animation, etc) and beautifuly textured (Seriously check the frigate textures are Awesome). New ships where included, the new model of the Prowler (Reminiscence of the Normandy from Mass Effect), the Marathon class cruiser, the Thanatos Destroyer, et al. Gameplay wise, it´s still a beta, however, playing with the UNSC has been so far smooth, and not buggy…

This mod is not so bad, but one modder of this mod insult other modders of Homeworld2.
