Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
A Scale chart of the currently UNSC lineup. Many more ships to come.
Note that the fighters are not included, as at this scale, they are little more the smudges.
Be sure to view original to read the smaller text.
ok so 22 2 come
1/23 was the date....I just wanted to put that in the title so that people would note that, in 3 months, its an old pic and changes will have been made
Beautiful. And Astraeus-class battleship really is huge.
Actually it's only half the size of the Covenant's Flagship from Halo 2.
Yeah, I was thinking that the shipyard would be at least double that size, the Astreaus wouldn't fit inside of that Shipyard. and since the Marathon is triple the tonnage (weight) of the Halcyon, than it should at least be double the Halcyons length.
It was never meant to fit inside the shipyard, seeing as there were only two ever built, having them built on site would look strange.
so is the astraeus class going to slipspace in??
Quite possibly.
It's actually going to EXPLODE in...just for added emphasis :p
I'm joking but still...
The Marathon's probably has more stuff packed into it than an Halcyon; just because its mass is three times as much doesn't mean it has to be three times as large.
I'm not sure about this, but I think the service stations (like Cradle) are mentioned as moving along the length of a ship to repair it. Of course, I'm not sure if a HW Shipyard can do that.
still, for the marathon.
I just realized....I just guessed at a Destroyer length instead of actually putting it as 7 meters more than the frigate lol.....my bad....
r all the modules going to be named the same except slipspace\hyperspace
We will have custom modules.
Hopefully a super doom cannon, YAY!!!!
ps. I'm joking....kinda
Thats a SMAC or an energy projector like the one on the huge ship that attacked reach (will that be in the mod? please).
very nice work there
Hey, could you guys please make an option like in Star Wars: Warlords that lets people have nearly unlimited reasources just for fun?
Of course.
Havent seen any covenant shp models yet?!? When can we expect to see some??? BTW geat work so far ;)
I'm not very good at modeling the Covenant so we have another modeler for that, he should have something ready the next time i talk to him.
So, I did some calculations, and I think the Marathon's length is actually closer to 1912 meters, not 1192 like everyone thinks. Typo maybe?
We believe it to be that due to Stephen loftus' charts, rather than the books, so it's unlikely to be a typo
We're also taking in to account things like the bridge size, MAC mounting size, and engine size compared to the halcyon, it's unlikely these features would be massively different structure wise, and so it's a roughly accurate way to scale them along with Loftus' charts.
I went back and read the article where Loftus explained how he got those measurements, and he essentially just used the Chief as a ruler to measure things like Cairo Station and In Amber Clad.
That works fine for those ships, but for the Marathon he'd have to estimate its length based on other nearby ships. He probably used the frigates in the opening shot of Cairo Station. THOSE ships do give the Marathon a lengh around 1192.
But that scene is misleading b/c all the ships are different distances from the camera. If you look at the lengths of frigates vs. cruisers in Lord Hood's display, the frigates seem much smaller. And since those scales seem more likely to be accurate (and assuming that Loftus's numbers on IAC are right), it seems like the Marathon is more likely to be closer to 1912 meters.
Loftus doesn't use other ships as rulers, he explains how he found out the scales.
He found that if you multiply all the models sizes when in a 3d editting programme by 10, it gives you a rough real world estimate, he found this by multiplying the masterchief's model and it coming very close to his canon height from the books.
To find the Marathon's size, he ripped it from the game, and did the same process, just like the IaC, and all other ships.
Will you be making any carriers like the Atlas? Or even a supercarrier like the Trafalgar?
I ask because these were said to be the larges ships in the fleet?
The Aeolus (regular carrier) is already modeled and in the latest update, but i guess this was posted before the update ^^
How many ships will be coming
How are you supposed to fit a BB in the shipyard when its building?
