This turned out very nice! I was skeptical about the plating, but it looks hella sexy with the bump mapping.

Definitely looks Covenant.
So I'm assuming it has Plasma torps and pulse lasers?

The description sounds like the armament is probably like 90% plasma torpedoes, with a meager amount of other weapons to balance it.

I'm not really sure yet how I want this vessel to play out, since the Covenant really one have four types of naval armament: plasma torpedo, plasma cannon, energy projector, and the point defense laser systems. I've decided everything below a cruiser will be without energy projectors.

Since this is a smaller ship, I think it's armament will be just a few lasers and then more missile hardpoints than that of the Omen, which will be the Covenant's mainstay frigate (for the time being).

So try and think of it like the torpedo frigate or heavy missile frigate from the Hiigaran and Vaygr factions respectively in terms of how it will play out.

tl;dr what Velo said.

Just a question. Since Halo Reach has shown us that a Covenant corvette is about the size of a UNSC Frigate, how big is a Covenant frigate?

"It's an un-named long range missile frigate that's roughly more than half the size of the Omen-class (1000m)."

AKA the same as canon.

Will there be shields on these babies?

All Covenant ships in canon have shields, so I would assume so.

I think they forgot to turn on their shields at that time...

The Covenant have to turn off their shields to let strike craft and drop pods launch, so it only makes sense for the corvette in Reach not to have shields because it is constantly deploying.

I find it hilarious how he says "This is a smaller ship" yet comes in at some 500-600m xP

Covenant are always bigger than their UNSC counterparts.

Will the lasers fire as cortana had them to fire in the book? Or less... deadly? Could that perhaps be an upgrade? Giving them better magnetic coils to accurately control fire?

If you mean the plasma beams she created when she modified the plasma torpedo turrets, then I am pretty sure they won't be in the mod, though a damage increase for the standard plasma torps probably isn't out of the question.

It's a good thing when a fan made cg model turns out looking better than it's video game and miniseries counterparts.

I've been playing this mod for quite some time now and I love how you didn't mess up the UNSC ships that were shown in the previous halo games like the frigate and cruisers. but judging from that covenant ship it's looks like nothing I've ever seen before in the games. I hope you make sure you get the covenant ships like they were shown in the games correct like the cruiser, super carrier, and corvette if not to me it feels like something is missing. If you could get the ships to scale the would be ******* awesome. And what are you going to use as the covenant mother-ship I suggest high charity or a super carrier. I doubt you could make something as big a high charity. XD

All ships are to scale. The Assault Carrier until further notice is the Covenant's mothership.

Mothership? Like Anchor 12? So does that mean they have a relatively mobile death dealing machine? Could always give them something like the Unyielding Hierophant? Or something similar I suppose...

The UH wasn't an attack craft, it was never meant to see battle, though it could certainly defend itself in a pinch. You have to remember the Halo storyline has no front-line, battle hardy shipyards like the motherships of the Homeworld games.

Your experimentation with specular and bump mapping are breathing new life to HW2 aesthetics. Hopefully other total conversions will follow in your wake.

Description

Finished up a new ship, model courtesy of The Didact. It's an un-named long range missile frigate that's roughly more than half the size of the Omen-class (1000m).

I've been busy experimenting with gloss and specular maps, as you can see. The UNSC are really easy because they're mostly a matte grey with little to no specular shine except for on windowed, edges in the plating and painted areas of the ship. With the new gloss and specular maps, you'll be able to see a light hex pattern that's familiar to Covenant vessels, but only in the light.

Expect to see the LRM pop up over at SotP pretty soon.

Also, sorry for the delay on the fix guys! I don't have a very stable connection at this moment and my internet cuts out before the upload completes. We know how much of an inconvenience this is to you and we apologize.
