It's been a week so I thought I would update a bit of a project I've been working on inside the mod - Nebulas.
A while ago I revealed a background for Reach that was a bit low detail and covered a good majority of the map, which didn't look good. I've been experimenting a bit and I think I've found a solution. Let me know what you think. :)
Nebula credit to CelestialMotherlode.
This...Is.....EPIC!

Btw I think it looks really great. The nebula in the background looks spectacular, and once again great work!
OMG looks amazing good work
wow 0.o
how much work have you done on this patch so far It looks amazing
This one is much better.
I would only ask you guys to rework the light effects on the modded maps.
Some of them are too dark and the light comes from just a direction, so the ships texture doesn't look smooth...
We're working on changing the lighting around a bit, but the one direction light source is still going to remain.
Ship textures don't look smooth? What do you mean?
this is fantastic! i'll be able to see my ships now! ;)
Wonderful.
As for a solution for the low res skyboxes (that is what homeworld uses for backgrounds right?) could you just make a collage of different textures and make the final compilation of the images the target resolution? Understand? B/c I just confused myself....
the lighting doesn't work very well unless it's a solid object and solid objects won't work properly because it pushes everything out of it.
This solution works fine. :)
