Great work on this ship, it really looks like something to be feared...

I know someone will ask this so I'll ask it now and save them some time, will it be skinned and added into the next release or will this be in a later release?

A later release. Me and Zero want to stick to a plan with releases -

Basically, all lower tier UNSC ships (and vital ones) will be put in game first, such as destroyers, frigates, etc. Based on feed back and our own testing we'll tweak the values until we feel they're fairly balanced and feel right, then slowly add more ships ontop of this foundation.

Due to that, cruisers, particularly the higher tier ones like the marathon, will be much later on.

Not in the next release. This will take me a year to HOD all the turrets.

Yeah, i quite like it. Though i wish i could have done some bits better like the large arms that stand out along the top, i had no idea how to update them other than just making them look a bit more complicated. Might use the art of halo's concept to make them look more interesting.

i'm guessing the little slot on top near the front is where the longswords dock, if they survive? Because with the clamps in the botom it seemed sort of strange as there really isn't a way to 'back in' a longsword into the clamps to dock.

Description

Final version of the Marathon class cruiser.

Rather than the old view that cruisers are essentially "just another ship" in that they're the natural progression from frigates and destroyers by simply having more of everything, cruisers will feel different to play around with - They'll be much larger and heavily armoured, taking a very long time to destroy even under heavy fire, and have far heavier and more exotic armament.

While smaller ships make use of cannons and turrets to deal with strike craft and for use in ground support, cruisers will be equipped with a myriad of turrets that make them almost immune to smaller vessels and larger weapons that allow them to engage heavy covenant ships on a very even footing. Cruisers will literally be giant floating fortresses in space, but the cost and length of production mean you won't be making them in any large numbers.

A standard UNSC fleet might consist of 2 marathons, a carrier, and an escort of maby 20-30 frigates and destroyers. Each individual ship will count more and take longer to destroy than vanilla HW2 counter parts, making battles longer, but at the same time production times will be upped considerably, making battles far more decisive.
