Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
Just a quick update. Back to work!
This is the Gantry. In-game, it is currently a dinky probe. Not so much anymore. The Gantry is capable of building other Scaffolds and Manufacturies, as well as fighters, corvettes, frigates and cruisers.
awesome-er? :D
Looks pretty good, but in all honesty, it would look better if it had another side to it, but it's still a good model.
Having another side to it'd make unlatching the cruiser from the Gantry nigh suicide. You'd also put a serious cap on the maximum size of ship that the Gantry can possibly build.
In retrospect, the Gantry should simply be a giant construction platform that builds vessels overhead or underneath itself.
Yeah, cruisers are built under the top part, and the wall house a scaffold for frigate manufacturing as well as corvette and fighter production bays.
This was the idea when designing it, given the rarity of such large scaffolds, i imagined they'd be designed with flexibility in mind. I considered it simply being a single platform, but the bracket shape seemed cooler. It's not restricting it a huge ammount, just acting as a skeleton and workhouse, the same way Tanis did for the mothership.
Yeah, But "The Scaffold", and "Tanis" later, both gets destroyed by the Vaygr Empire. ):
I don't think the UNSC are as silly as to leave a single fighter wing to defend their most important bits of infrastructure like the Higaarans were.
The Taiidani were the ones that destroyed the Scaffold in HW1, NOT the Vaygr....
