It's the only way baby.

It's been cleaned up a bit since then. I always model messy and then clean up afterwards.

It's too bad the UNSC never implemented electron barrier projectors into their capital ships, even if they were only set up to protect critical segments of a vessel. Considering the power output of one destroyer-class vessel in comparison to a MJOLNIR onboard reactor module, it should have been ridiculously easy to develop a model that would be capable of protecting vulnerable areas from most light to medium energy weapon discharges. Add in some automatic reflective chaff expellers, and you'd have some fairly effective resistance to Forerunner beam weapons. They could have put the damned Shieldworld to work at building it for them. But no, must waste resources spamming the S-III and S-IV training button. *headdesk* *headdesk* *headdesk*

They said in fall of Reach that they struggled to scale up the energy shields for some reason, might be due to the fact their understanding of energy shields comes from captured jackal gauntlet shields which may not be the same technology they use for larger applications.

But yeah, the UNSC doesn't spend it's money very well.

Kind of hard to find money when you're loosing your major sources of resource and income (lost colonies) while trying to maintain a defense force and at the same time having black lit secret government programs running simultaneously. I don't think it was the UNSC that doesn't know how to spread its money but more ONI distributing funds to top secret projects like MJOLNIR and the SPARTAN programs.

"So you propose we replace all lightly armored vehicles with jeeps that roll on a dime, have absolutely 0 crew protection and 50% of the vehicle is devoted to an oversized gattling gun? How can we throw money at you faster?"

"Oh man, you mean if we buy 30,000 of these you'll throw in a couple of dozen oversized garbage trucks that move at 10kph as command and control vehicles? You guys are the best."

"And on top of that, if stick around more than 10 minutes in one of our pumas, we'll give you a crappy VtoL with guns that the 100% exposed crew have to fire! Oh and did we mention your basically screwed if your attacked directly from the front or behind? Whats that, youll take 1000? Perfect!"

They couldn't scale up the shields because of the power it would take to shield even a tiny area of the ship, though with the tech from the shield world, they may now have access to the mean to generate hardlight and thus better shielding tech. There are rumours floating around about Infinity having shields so maybe the UNSC has retrofitted it's ships with better defensive systems.

Description

Revised blastshield, slightly larger bridge hood, added support struts so it feels a little less "floaty"

First optimisation pass knocked off 1k polys, gonna try knock off another and then it's finished.
