Hey guys, it's Freno, the Lead Animator for Halo: First Offensive. Don't tell Devotion that I'm posting this... :P.
Just a little Moddb exclusive update, until I get the trailer working again. :D Expect the more refined version on the actual site. Just a teaser animation for now (Sorry, no download :(), but watch the forums for the actual trailer! I'll give you an insight on how I make such things.
I start off by simply creating blocks and colou-coding them with the models that will actually be used. I just move them around in ways that I think the actual models would, to get a creative spark. Next, I add props (In this case, the MAC Gun) for the blocks to work around. After I've settled on the general storyline, I'll add the actual models. You can see from here, that the models were animated in poses that they should in-game. After they have been animated for general movement, I add the model-specific animations. The Longswords bank and manouver, the ships turn and boost, etc. In all essence, it's a step-by-step procedure to get it right. This is only a work-in-progress, keep in mind, so you can expect it to get a lot better. Anyways, without further ado...
PS: There was a little slip in the resolution, so I'd suggest playing it in a small media player window if you can. ;)
Have a good one,

It's going to be in .exe format
what is the file that its going to called
Will the longswords be useable for land battles? and will there be special props that we can put in with the map editor like the Forward Unto Dawn?
is this mod gunna be a Exe. or a manual install and where would you have to put the either in the eaw files or it will be in the mod file
Yes, that is 'easier'. But it also sucks if we want to, you know, have any sort of surprises for our fans by release.
there is a LOt easier way to beta test. just put it out here (for free of course) and just set up a bug report page. and if ppl don't wanna bug report well thats their fucking problem.
well if you want suprises then why have a beta in the first fucing place?
WHERE THE HELL DID YOU FIND THAT MOVIE! That...Is...Awesome!!
