The PoA is a Halcyon-class cruiser, an older design that was in the process of being phased out untill the outbreak of the war. It is the smallest UNSC ship of the cruiser class and is thus far inferior tot he Marathon. Though the PoA I'm sure could stand up quite well *post-modification* against one.

Actually, a Marathon is only about 20 meters longer then a Halcyon. :P But yeah, you're right about the rest.

The reason pillar of autumn was so strong was it's ability to take damage and move quickly, something that a larger marathon wasn't able to do. Course the pillar only really took out one super ship and got to halo effectively changing the war forever.

The pillar of autumn was stronger structurally because of the design in the framework, it could withstand a heck of an amount of damage and still be very functional, just finished readin that bit in the books :P
