I can see there are several smaller ships, but do they really make that big of a selection symbol?

Yeah... I've been meaning to fix that for a while... I'll do it later this week :).

Geez. Those are TINY for Covenant ships........ even their corvettes are usually a good two to three times bigger than a UNSC frigate, but that frigate dwarfs these things..... I can't see that ship you're calling a light cruiser taking more than two MAC rounds from a frigate, let alone a destroyer or a cruiser. The spooks on the other hand..... considering what they were designed to do, it's not all that surprising now that I think about it - they were recon ships first and foremost, and never meant to take on anything bigger than a few fighters.

The Light Cruiser is actually based of a concept from the books.

The UNSC frigate is bigger and firing a ton of missiles, looks like it's going to at kill most of those spooks and maybe a frigate with it's MAC gun. I could be completely wrong because I'm just guessing that the frigate is better than 3 of those spooks. Oh crap! Didn't see those seraphs...

Seraphs won't do much more than annoy it if they're in a group that small - they only have strength in numbers, hence the Covenant doctrine of "Swarm the little guy".

Size isn't everything, the Light Cruiser is armed with Plasma Torpedoes and the CBC has a pulse laser on board, that frigate lost.

I'm just saying, I don't see it having the same kind of durability that the standard Covenant ships of the line did. Sure, it probably outclasses UNSC ships of similar size in terms of sheer firepower, but I just can't see it taking that much of a hit itself. The reason the shields are so strong on the bigger ships is because the strength of an energy shield is proportional to the amount of power you can generate for it, and Covenant generator technology is ironically inferior to UNSC tech in that field - they needed MASSIVE reactors to keep their warships and space stations operational. The other reason I think that it wouldn't take much of a hit is because the sheer size of the Covenant warships also meant that the MAC rounds would be less likely to destroy them outright unless they took a direct hit to the nose with their shields down from a similar ship class or unless something vital was hit. I wouldn't be surprised if a ship as small as the spook or the light cruiser were torn in half if they took a MAC round with their shields down.

either way if it where physics at work (which halo tries to abide by) it would not matter even if you where to have ten frigates verses two minuscule covenant ships because the only real reason for covenant beating us in space all the time is the ability to utilize plasma in extremely large quantities one small plasma torpedo would easily penetrate the titanium hulls of any unshielded UNSC that and the fact that covenant had pinpoint guidance systems in which brings up another case reloading time in which the covies could put 100 devastating plasma bolts out and we are only able to retaliate with pitiful archer missiles and one maybe two mac blasts in that short time

As far as the big ships are concerned, yes. The only reason that the Covenant light cruiser in Fall of Reach managed to do that much damage to the Commonwealth was because A.) it was an extremely old frigate that had been refitted several times and was due to be decommisioned and B.) the Captain was an idiot that severely underestimated his opponent. A single MAC round tore straight through the light cruiser's shield and kept going right through the hull, and the only reason it survived was dumb luck - the MAC round missed the reactor by what I'm guessing was only about ten meters or so. You're also fogetting the significant amount of time it took to charge up for a single plasma torpedo - it took long enough for the Commonwealth to charge its MAC AND line the shot up and fire.

Also remember that in the very first Halo the Pillar of Autumn was out numbered by several Covenant cruisers and Cortana said she was "content with...7 (?) kills." Haven't played it in a while so don't remember off the top of my head.
