Well the normal map just improved because the texture itself is better...so Crazybuymp had more to work with when I generated the normals. lol. The diffuse texture does have MUCH better shading as well...the OG had none. haha
I do. Crazybump takes the light/dark values of an image and uses them to generate a normal map. It's a wonderfully accurate program :) And the best part is that I only paid $40.00 for it!
I still think I make better bump/normal/specular maps because they're controlled more and by hand, but this program is amazing for doing background props I'd imagine. Wouldn't use it for everything.

H3 harness with H1/2 helmet? Pretty neat combo.
Actually there are elements from all harness variations in there (H:CE through Reach). However, H3 does have a predominate influence.

You get far better results when you take the time to bake normals and create your own specular maps.
Though this CrazyBump gets a lot of praise, I'll check it out.
