Half-Life: Metamorphosis is an expansion pack styled mod for Valve Software's science fiction first-person shooter video game Half-Life, in the vein of Half-Life: Blue Shift and Half-Life: Opposing Force. Half-Life: Metamorphosis follows data analyst Holly Byrne at the time of the Resonance Cascade.
Something that will be popping up in the later Xen chapters, and is interwoven into the design of the level. Creepy as they come.
Is it me or these things were inspired by System Shock 2's worms?
Anyway these new monsters are looking pretty great, and they aren't changing the Half life feeling at all, good job!
It's not totally obvious by the screenshot but these guys are actually much larger than the little grubs from SS2, significantly larger than Freeman. It's not a model but in fact a func_train entity, you'll have to hop on these guys backs to navigate through Xen, they are stylised moving platforms. Cool idea, no?
And thanks, this is intended to be a companion piece to Half-Life and OpFor, so I want to keep that flavour very much intact.
This mod is going to win over the ideas I made for mine, keep it coming!
I think these could stand to be a little less edgy. They look pretty blocky at the moment, but I like the concept! I had a similar idea for Particle Fusion but it would instead have been juvenile Pit Worms.
The detail these guys get eventually will be dependent on performance. My plan is to match the detail of Half-Life as i'd like it to be playable on lower end machines.
very very cool !
would it be possible to make parts of it die when shot until its only the head?
