Half-Life Havoc 1.0
Apr 11, 2008 Full Version 15 commentsHere's the release build, the one that got handed in.
Half-Life Havoc is a mod for Half-Life 2 centred around physics. The objective is to create a middle ground between Half-Life 2 and Garry's Mod. The idea is to take the constrained physics play present in Half-Life 2 and combine it with the lack of urgency present in Garry's Mod. You are presented with a number of premade physics games or puzzles, but each one is designed to encourage free play within the given puzzle. The mod makes use of Valve's developer commentary system so with developer commentary mode enabled you are able to hear explanations of the physics and the games. This allows you to experience the Half-Life 2 engine's physics system and explicitly consider the physics, rather than playing the game with the physics in the background.

That's right!
It's up here
Gamecareerguide is the sister site to Gamasutra. They focus on student projects and getting into the industry.
It's almost the same as the essay up on the HLHmod site, but we reworked a few things taking into account some of the comments we received from all you lovely people!
Cheers!
Here's the release build, the one that got handed in.
Updates Since Alpha 1.1: Changed mod folder name to HLH so the chapter names would work. Changed the background map. it now does stuff. Added an intro...
This is Alpha 1.1. Almost the same as the last release, but all the games can now be reset with buttons to be infinitely replayable.
Here's Alpha 1. There's a bit more to do, but still no commentary. That's the next step.

( the comentary is cool )
Thanks for pointing out the missing BSP, total error on my part, fixing now. As for the errors, I'll work on it, but the final will be a completely different map with the same puzzles in it.
i got a Error O,o

mod looks realy cool, =D
added to modwatch
Also I am scripting. Scripting is required to make all the puzzles work, all the buttons and stuff use visual scripting in HAMMER. If you really are against the mod don't play it, otherwise wait for the final, and see what you think.
That's not scripting. That is mapping. That is what a mapper does. I am not against this mod. My point is it did not deserve it's own mod. A mod is a modification of such. This is just a map pack, that is all it is to me.
I'd say that in teory it is a map pack, but since it (haven't tried it) introduces new gameplay it could also be a mod. But on the other hand this doesn't modify the game so if you look at it like that it wouldn't be a mod.
