Oh c'mon. You can better than THAT!
You don't need to make the clothes recolorable. Make something HD instead like in Sven Coop. It looks really low def in the original version.
The helmet.mdl will look different. The screenshot shows red.mdl and blue.mdl which will be used for matches (3on3, 4on4, ctf, etc)

Sorry Crowbar, but those recolors are terrible. They don't reflect your typical texture work for the detail textures you released.
It should be better if not complete blue or red. You should make some black inside too
