Report RSS Half-Life Echoes progress update

Thank you to all the people who have commented and left feedback on my work. You guys are brilliant!

Wow.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the response I have had since I first announced this mod. This is the first time I have attempted to create something like this and the feedback has been incredible. It's great to see everyone enthusiastic about this, I have been creating this to purely entertain people and I hope I can deliver on that front!

Progress is very good, I am soon to finish chapter 3. As with anything creative, you soon start to release what is possible from the initial grand plan and have to trim back the layers until something feasible is left behind. I initially thought this would be 8-10 maps. I am currently on 12, and have four chapters to go! I also have been going back and retooling and editing previous areas, so previously released screenshots will differ in the end!

I may possibly split the campaign up into separate releases as a result, but I will see. I would love to share what I have made so far. It has been a lot of work, but you guys make it worth while :)

Here are some screenshots of the current status of the third chapter! Deep, dark and underground. Guess I've been playing too many horror games recently! Don't worry, you will make your way topside soon enough.

Thanks everyone, you rock :)

Man, this work is awesome! I really hope we can get to the surface soon, because everything is too dark, but that isnt bad anyway! ;)
Are there going to be new enemy/ally NPCs? or any new weapon?

I wanted to mirror the journey of Half-Life in a sense, you start up relatively safe above ground, run into trouble and have to go deeper, and finally get back out! The darkness is intended, but it's easier to see ingame :)

No no enemies or weapons unfortunately. I am sticking with the current enemy list and trying to get the most of out them and hopefully make them fun to fight :)

I am using Spirit of half life to replace models at times though, so I can have construction workers and multiple zombie types :)

Great work, It would be awesome if you can release a short demo. I really want to play that badly!

A demo may be a possibility, however I would at least need to finish a few more maps to find a natural pause in the story I could stop the demo!

Thanks for the track :) Are you the moderator for Moddb? If so, awesome! :D

Unfortunately no ETA on either that I could state right now. Progress is very steady however, so it will definitely see a release :)

I'm getting married at the end of the year, so hopefully I can get it out by then! :p

really nice. only the gate on the floor on picture 5 looks a little bit odd.

The gate is intended to be smashed up, but manipulating small shapes can cause strange effects when compiled so I had to stick with something simple! Besides, it's just something most players will run past but I will amend it slightly :)
