In light of the new Linux, Mac, and SteamPipe additions made to Half-Life on Steam, a required update was made necessary for the mod. Hence, version 1.1 of Half-Life: Dreamcast is now available to add full compatibility with the recent Steam changes. Due to the nature of this update, a single patch is not possible. Be sure to delete the previous version of the mod before installing 1.1!

Head to the download section now or simply click the link below:

Half-Life: Dreamcast v1.1

Be sure you have Half-Life on Steam installed!

If you encounter issues such as scripted sequences not working, chances are your saved games from the base Half-Life game are conflicting with the HL: DC mod. This can occur even if you don't load these saved games. To address this problem, go to your Half-Life save game directory ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ [SteamName]\half-life\valve\SAVE ) and either delete all files you find there or temporarily move them to a different folder. You may need to disable Steam Cloud synchronization for Half-Life to prevent Steam from automatically redownloading the saved games.

Wow. This came out of nowhere. I wish more mods would release this fast so we don't have to wait for the awesome.

I always assumed the Dreamcast version was turned into the PS2 version. (as that only had cosmetic changes as far as I know) I look forward to playing this.

PS2 also has co-op as a separate game Half-Life: Decay. Blue Shift originally was supposed to be like Decay in that it would be an exclusive extra section of the game for the console port (thus validating actually getting it). Ironically whole Half-Life mods have been ported to Dreamcast, so I'm a bit perplexed as to why Valve pulled out in the first place (of course, why they haven't just made Decay be available on PC as extra is also beyond me).

I have the PS2 version. The way it handled aiming on a controler was pretty bad. It was basicly lock on system.

Decay wasn't that great either. It's biggest problem was that every time you died you had to watch a long winded cutscene, which was annoiying. The second player didn't do much except for boosts.

Nice, but my only question is how did you edit the GFX.wad to make the DC loading screen appear between maps. Cause I want to be able to edit this.

I'm afraid I can't help you with that. I did not have to edit the GFX.wad myself as the Dreamcast version was already in PC-useable format.

I was the one who ported about 25 Dreamcast models and released them on HIT back in late 2005. They're actually in this mod! Check the file dates in the models folder. I have since ported an additional 100 models during the past week specifically for this mod.
