Half-Life 2: Short Stories is a team working on a group of modifications that take place in the same realm. A lot of the focus is on the story and gameplay, new innovative set pieces and puzzles. After the release of the first episode of Human Error, the team is planning to release more episodes and expand the characters and the world.
The death of the Nihilanth threw the Xenian army into disarray, and the subsequent portal storms stranded many on Earth in the wake of Combine occupation. After once more having to endure existence beneath the totalitarian boot of their cosmic nemesis, they have searched for a way out. In Human Error, relish the opportunity to join Civil Protection and stop the Xenians from ever finding peace! Step into the jack boots of Anders, and follow his story through a moral quagmire of thinly disguised genocide and raging psychotics. Vortigaunts, Alien Grunts and Controllers stand in your way from dashing the hopes of an entire civilisation, but worry not: you have at your disposal all the perks of the Combine empire. Step into the APC, equip your manhack and stand side-by-side with equally disgruntled traitors to the human race, Eloise, Noah and Larson.
With the .zip file, simply unzip it and copy it to your SourceMods folder (which is something like C:\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\ depending on your Steam installation). Make sure the mod's foldername will be "Human_Error". If you want to help us host the files, let us know. If you have questions, comment, etc. remember our Moddb forums.
If you haven't seen it yet, here's This Is Larson:
2010 Trailer:
I am not sure if I can help in any other way right now than asking for the mini dump file. It's located in your ep2 .exe folder, that is something like: C:\Steam\steamapps\[username]\half-life 2 episode two\
There should be a file with the extension .mdmp from the time of crash there. If you could send it to me I can try to fix it and put it in the next patch.
Enjoyed this and think you should keep going cause I want more.
The new enemies and weapons are all quite fun to fight and use. Very enjoyable and I look forward to play episode 2.
At first when I looked at the header I thought "Is that a Vortigaunt with an afro?" but then I noticed it's one of those big headed hovering creatures from HL1. Downloading now though.
Anyway to get song in mp3 file lol, its that good.
You can find all the custom music in the mod files, in the Human_Error\sounds\music folder. This Is Larson song is named End_Credits.mp3
Also, due to several requests, you can now get a free download of the song on my website at www.jonathanlewis.me
ok thanks.
Really awesome mod, great work done there, so continue with episode 2 :)
looks great im tracking
Amasing mod!
I could see that a lot of effort had been put into both the story and the game itself! It's absolutely not easy to release a Single Player mod, so congratulations on releasing it as well!
Rated 10/10
THIS MOD IS SO AWNSOME I REALY ENJOY PLAYING THROUE IT !
just played the first 3 chapters, AWESOME MOD!
I love how this mod gives me such an adrenaline like how Half Life 2 gave me
Can't wait for the others!
Cool
The combine car thing is kind of wonkey on the controls. It just feels off somehow. The faces seem a bit weird and could use work. Smoke grenades need more smoke. Thats about it. Otherwise a really good mod.
epic story, fun to play.
DL and play.
loading a bit long at some parts.
just finished it, amazing mod
my favorite single player mod for now :p
When I start this game, it says it cant find the local files so steam will re aquire them, I did that. Same thing happens when I try to launch it up. I installed it 3 times, all from different mirrors. Any tips on how to fix it? Mod seems interesting, but I just want to try to get it working.
I liked this. It was short, but pretty damn fun. The only real major complaint I have is the Alyx Gun view model. It was very low-res, to say the very least.
That was great, I absolutely can't wait for Episode 2.
As an aside, how's work on Paradigm Decay and Midnight Sun going?
sweet mod, definitely excited for the next installment
Loved it.
Amazing game :D
Congrats Au-heppa on an amazing mod!
Downloaded it, the models aren't exactly top notch as everybody says, but the dialogue and combat scenes make it worth while. Running over rebels and killing tons of xenies is fun as hell. I'm stuck on the part with the first xenian rock thing though, no idea how to get through.
Best Source mod I've played in ages. Great work!
The best hl2 mod was research and development , everybody knows that
astonishing!
no real news here: controllable manhacks are awesome
and so are the models!
this is a awsome mod its great and kind of hard by the way love the aliens from HL1 yeah and we finaly get to kick some rebel ***

Just so you know, there's really no need to inform people who your comments are from.
hi human errro produser i wonder if i can use the aliens in ur game in one of my mods its named log shift plizz send me a message
Mann I've finish this game today
and I have to say
This rocks!!
Its very cool to be a combine officer, they have a job, they have bedrooms, kitchens, cafeteria, all that a rebel doesnt have.
And talking about their job, the shift is very cool, wake up, dress up, and its time to put order in the city!
This is good, I guess.
The face modelling was kinda bad but mod was awesome and i like teh manhax lol... also combines are not humans anymore , i mean they were humans long time ago but they are some kind of human-robot
There's a difference between Combine soldiers and Civil Protection Officers / Metrocops. To quote Laidlaw: "cp/metrocops are humans at the first level--basically unaltered volunteers. From here, if you are hardcore, you must volunteer for modification in order to become a soldier, so advancing in rank requires surrendering even more humanity."
Hey Human Error team. I just finished playing your mod. Really enjoyed it. You did some interesting things with the story and I really liked the characters and music.
Only bit I could say needs improvement in future episodes would be the levels. They look fine and are fun, but it wasnt always clear where I was supposed to be going or what I was doing in some spots. Maybe it was just because some interior rooms looked similar that it was hard to get my bearings. Otherwise, very good, thanks for the mod.
I was totally impressed by this mod!! Very excellent work. I do have a few complaints, though.
The first is probably just an issue of my computer being outdated, but the mod didn't seem to run very well on it. I'm not sure if there's some sort of 'optimizing' you guys can do? At any rate, it is small.
My second complaint is more outstanding; I hate to say this so bluntly, but the model for the woman in the dress (specifically, her head; the rest of her body turned out well) is really bad. She is almost alien in appearance. I think that with future installments that is something you should definitely improve--making her look more human. The models for the faces of the CP squad are amazing (especially Larson's, it's so expressive :) ), so I'm not sure what went wrong.
Also, Noah(?)'s dialogue in the later parts of the game is very weak, and in my opinion way overdoing it with the cursing.
Anyway, these complaints are just pieces of an overall very impressive presentation, and I commend you all on your efforts!! I definitely look forward to seeing more of what you guys can make!
Oh! Additionally, I was VERY pleased to see the Alien Grunts and Controllers modeled and animated so well. They were a total blast to fight!
Very good! The manhacks we're fun to use, the models looked good, and the voice acting, although not perfect, was still good. I got lost a few times though. Other than that, I just wish Larson had some more lines/screen time.
Great mod so far, but I am flailing around in the university trying to get into the "stalkers"room. Any help? Any plans for a walkthrough?
I loved a sniper rifle because it was so accurate and instant kill. One thing I like was blowing the hapless enemy's head off.
Well, I just finished Human Error, and here's my review:
Story: The story was pretty interesting, and while its too early into the story to really comment on depth, the story progressed fluidly. It was kinda short, but I can't really fault them on that since its part of the "Short Stories" series. Hopefully the next release will continue where the first story left off. 4/5
Characters: The characters were good, though I think actual character development could have been better. However, as I said before its still pretty early into the story line so perhaps as more is released we'll get to see more depth in your team members. The face on the model of the girlfriend was the only detractor here, but the modeling and rigging of the dress was well done. 4/5
Sound: This was really my only peeve. The dialogue was good, however I did end up having to turn on closed captioning because many of the girlfriend's lines were too soft to really hear what she was actually saying. As far as the dialogue goes, it was solid. I would have liked to have seen more dialogue between team mates though. 4/5
Gameplay: I loved seeing the grunts back in and on top of that I got to drive a combine APC. I also have to give a big thumbs up to all the unique gameplay tweaks added in, like being able to use your suit battery to recharge the sniper rifle, etc. And the manhacks were really cool too. The only thing that bugged be slightly was the scene where the two guys are kicking down the door and it took like 5 minutes for them to do it...that could have been a bit shorter as I had started to wonder if I had missed something. 5/5
Level Design: Pretty standard, though the interior of the university was pretty well done. The extra detail on rooms like the lecture hall made what would have been just another level really stand out. 3/5
Final Score: 20/25 - 80%
Just for your information, you can use a manhack to break down the wood holding the door from the outside.
uuuhh i can play it because, i dont have a steam i got half life ep 2 no steam... HELP PLZ
Seeing how there is no official non-steam version of any Valve games, I suggest you buy Ep2 legally.
nice mod i love it nigga!!!
Looks like a load of fun.
Best Hl2 mod 10/10
Only problem was it was way too short. I demand Episode 2.
that comment was disgusting
