Hey everyone, it's me, the guy who worked on this mod. I just want to let everyone know that I'm sorry if I exhausted any form of toxicity on this page. I was a kid at the time I made worked on this mod, or at least tried to. I didn't take any criticisms or hate very well, and I sounded a little dickish back then and because of that, I hope in some way, you all can at least find forgiveness for the way I behaved back then. I know, this mod was terrible, I thought I could get away with making simple maps by just calling it an "alpha" version, and that was literally my mind as a kid, hoping to get attention like any other mod maker out there.
I had this one person make a map for me, GamerDude27 (current name) to help me improve the mod, but even I exhausted toxicity towards them. Sorry dude...
Currently I'm working on an indie game titled, the Ballad of Equis: Blue Star. I'm sure it'll be much more enjoyable. It's a 2D platformer with boomer shooter mechanics. I don't know if that's hard to imagine the way I described it, but that's what I am working on.
Maybe one day I'll take another jab at trying to build a Half-Life 2 mod, but it won't be... whatever the heck I was planning with this thing (I'm pretty sure somehow already made a mod called, Rebel Story). For all we know, I might use the Source engine to make a Ballad of Equis sequel when that day comes.
You may be wondering, what exactly made me come out today to write this? I don't know, maybe I just matured, or maybe I heard of other developers who didn't take criticism well and instead of using it to their advantage to improve they just blew everything off because they thought they were superior. The way critics described those people made me reflect on myself from back then. I haven't touched game development in so long until recently. I went through middle school, high school, and now I'm a college student. Because I'm trying to get back into this as a hobby to turn in a potential career, I felt it necessary to clean up my past so I can move on and do work without any burden on my back.
I really hope at least a lot of you understand, and I hope to look forward to an awesome future.

9.6/10, Incredibly good gameplay, nice map design, very good textures and the difficulty is just right. The story has some small flaws, but other than that this mod is really good.
Did you read the latest news? Instead of source engine, the game is gonna be in unity 3d now.
This idea has potential but first you should try to get used to Hammer mapping and get more experienced. Oh and everyone here saying this isn't good knows that they started just like this to. After a good couple hours of experimenting these maps can look amazing.

Well the fact that RoAlien and others actually gave you advice on mapping. They are telling you to start learning how to map. You should have learnt before creating a mod. Did you expect the levels to generate themselves? And maybe stop using words like f*ck, watch your spelling and use interpunction. It'll make your posts look a lot more mature.

Seen you're the lead designer of this mod, you should know a little bit of everything. Especially level design. Levels are the base of your game, a bad map can ruin your entire game. You don't have to know how to use Hammer and all of it's secrets, that's the task for your mappers, but you should know the basic rules for levels. An example of these rules are, how do I guide my player? You can do that with light for example. Would you rather go down a dark staircase or go up a well lit staircase? Most people choose the well lit staircase ofcourse. Go to this site: Worldofleveldesign.com Download the E-Book Ultimate Level Design Guide and learn things on how to make a map fun so you can guide your mapper into what you want your mod to be.

A lot of people would have killed to have this support when they first started modding. Advice like this is rare from other developers.
I hope your not focusing on a career in games development as anger management and an attitude towards others will get you nowhere in a career like this. You will always have to work in a team no matter what.

From what I've played this mod is pushing in the right direction. I think if you stop using models from sites like gamebanana and learn to model or find a good friend who knows how to model and start creating models and advanced maps for people to check out.
