Really? What's so hard to make the difference between those two engines. It's very obvious, you just need to look at the lighting, shadows, textures etc.

Not to mention antialiasing and other stuff.

Yep... The only thing I hate in GoldSrc games is lighting for v_ models... IT'S SO UNREALISTIC, DAMN! And no phong. About the AA... Turn it on in your Nvidia/Catalyst Control Panel?

Actually... lighing, shadowing and texturing can be enhanced to meet HL2 standars, and some guys have done that on HL1, and yes: could be really hard to tell a difference (not here since, well, it's pretty obvious).

And... for FSAA, well... Bill Gates created Video Card options to customize that in your games. HL included.
