GTA Lost Heaven is a Total Conversion project to recreate the City & Landscape of 'Lost Heaven' from the epic Mafia game into the San Andreas Engine.

The First release will be the complete city, later releases will include vehicles and possibly new or recreated Mafia Missions.

Features

  • New Landscape, to fill in the blanks in the original map (no 2D Treelines)
  • Edges to the Map, To Islandify the City
  • New Upated 3D Buildings, Including Rooftops and no wafer thin 2D walls or objects.
  • Higher Definition Textures
  • New Sea Level & Sea Bed, Sail & Swim above and below the waters

The Future ' Lost Heaven Forever'

Once the city Is completely re-created in detail, it will be freely available in a 3DS format with the hopes that others can port it to different game engines such as GTA4 and perhaps one day Mafia2.
I consider it a tribute to the Mafia game developers that The City Of Lost Heaven may continue to survive future game formats.

FINALLY after all this Time This project is BACK in Production !

I will be starting over from scratch, but the basic overview will be the same (Ive decided not to change the position of the RaceTrack)

As for what GTA engine It will be imported into is still a matter of debate

GTA San Andreas is the most obvious choice given the original textures.

GTA:SA already has establised code for Trains Trams & Cranes & Dock stuff (all in Mafia)

GTA 4 has made some vast improvements in Modding which I have not kept up with 'what is and what isnt possible' It would require also require a complete texture overhaul.

For now I will recreate the entire Mafia City Combined as a single model and update where needed (including the Tutorial area) Then I will consider what Engine to use, even if I choose San Andreas, The Complete Map Models will be made available for anyone else who wants to port to another engine

Someone's doing a mafia to rage engine mod .
But it would still be cool to see this released.
The more mafia mods we have, the better.

Ok... This is very cool. I think you should do a 2 or 3 part or more download.

1st part = Basic Playable Map
2nd Part = Higher Quality Playable Map
3rd Part = Map with Cars and Stuff
4th Part = The Storyline

Plus you could also make extra addons that help "enhance" the cities potential.

This will be great because Mafia 1 had many and many interiors but you could not use them all after the missions that took place in them. Now we can.

Good Luck and cheers to you!

Really looking forward to this mod! As far as I know, it's the only active mod that aims to port a map from another game into GTA. It that right? I'm surprised more people haven't tried to do this with maps from other games.. maybe it's very hard to do. Aside from the improvements and adjustments you've made to them, was it possible to 'convert' the Mafia map files over to GTA's format, or did the whole map have to be imitated from scratch? There's a lot of games I can think of whose maps would be great to play within the GTA engine. Lost Heaven from Mafia is definitely top of the list. Keep up the good work!!

OMFG! I thought you died along the forum! Didn't had an account on moddb, so I couldn't comment before. Anyway, I highly appreciate your ideas, but, due to various problems that you may encounter IRL I think it'd be a good idea to get the basic playable city first, if possible.

The plan is to release a basic playable city with low 'stand in' detail that can be replaced with higher detail buildings later on.

Real life always comes before 'hobbys', fortunately for fans of this project this is my 'obsessional quest' to complete, and the only thing that will stop me is my untimely death. BUT I must have kicked some puppies in my past life because unfortunately my karma isnt often on my side when it comes to even the most simplistic goals I create. If I hadnt been delayed for the past 5 months there would have been a city release by now. Lets just hope you have the karma to play it in 6 months and I dont get run over by a bus :)
