This little app customizes a galaxy for you to conquer in GSB. For Windows only.
How it works:
- Copy the content of zip into your Gratuitous Space Battles folder. It won't work from anywhere else. The files should not overwrite anything if it does, let me know.
- Launch the app.
- Alter settings as you see fit.
- Click the Generate button for a new campaign.
- The bigger red dot shows your homeworld.
- If you want to save the campaign hit Save.
- Now if you load GSB, the campaign should be there.
There is a file called stars.txt. If that file is next to the app, it will take the star names from that file. Otherwise it will use random generated names.
The regions.txt and types.txt are used for the random mission name generation. If not present a default name will be used.
If you want to customize the galaxy further, there are some more features:
- Advanced Settings -
Here, you can set basic parameters of the galaxy by hand.
Planets: The number of planets in the galaxy, up to 175.
Wormholes: The number of long range stable wormholes on galaxy map. Wormholes act like normal jumpgates but they exist between distant star system.
Backgroud: This button selects a different background.
1, 2, 3 joins: These are weights of the likely number of jumpgates in a system. If the weight of 1 join is higher than the 2 and 3 then the jumpgate system in galaxy will likely look like a string. Most system will have 2 jumpgates. If the 3 joins is higher than the others then the jumpgate system in galaxy will look like a web. Each system will have 3, 4 or 5 jumpgates.
To use the values you set here, hit the Generate Custom button.
The more jumpgate systems have, the harder the game!!!
- Inhibition Effects -
Under this tab, you can randomize the inhibition effects around the galaxy a manually. If the tab is turned off, the effects will be taken from the Template files directly. Randomization is done during saving and not galaxy generation. So each time you hit the Save button new values will be created.
All the comboboxes have the same value setup:
Random: 0-100% chance
None: 0%
Rare: 10-30%
Normal: 40-60%
Common: 60-80%
Everywhere: 100%
So if you set Fighter inhibition to Everywhere then the galaxy should be mostly fighter free.
- Facility Placement -
Like above. However, the facility type (small, med, large) is randomized as well. Also, the homeworld always starts with a Large Factory, Large Shipyard and a Small Academy regardless of anything.
