GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made recreation, released for free, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology. We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64, a lot of things have changed since they first designed that game, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.
Great concept so far. The only thing I feel is limiting this game is the registration of bullets. Gets real annoying when you shoot someone with a shotgun at close range 3-4 times and they dont die. The vents need some work as well as you tend to get stuck a bit when moving through them. Other than that epic game and can't wait for the final product.
Bringing back the classic N64 game we all loved to an advanced engine, with amazingly recreated graphics, and the thrill of online multiplayer gaming. I could not love this mod more. The only thing it's missing is a single player campaign, but then that's not what it originally set out to do; it's aim is to recreate the classic deathmatches using a great engine and an online community of gamers; and that, I am happy to say, they have achieved.
For those who may be interested; it features virtually all of the classic multiplayer maps beautifully re-textured. In cases they've even designed both a higher quality remake of the original and a partial recreation; capturing the best iconic sections of the classic maps while delivering a more modern take on the textures and details.
All the classic weapons are there, along with classic drop-down reloading, and rolling explosions. Appreciating this as much as I do really makes me feel old!
Good game, excellent use of the source engine (e.g. explosion effects). Player base is lacking and the multiplayer experience could use some work, (combat can become repetitive) Overall, a good reproduction of the original Goldeneye, though (and despite their respectable philosophy) i kinda wish the dev team would deviate a little from the original game.
