GoldenEye: Source is a total conversion modification of Half-Life 2. It is a fan made artistic recreation, released for free, with a primary goal in mind; To bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source' Orange Box Technology. As one of the premier and consistently released HL2 mods, GE:S has been seen out and about, reviewed by the best, and played by hundreds and thousands of PC gamers for Eight long years and running.

We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64. A lot of things have changed since they first designed the original, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.

We focus on a daily basis to keep the original feel for the game that we all know and love. Adding new and fun game play features is our secondary mission, along with new maps and weapons that will keep the game feeling fresh. By getting together with all of our development team, and asking ourselves "What are the things we always wanted to see and do?", we think we created and implemented interesting ideas into the mod for fans and gamers to enjoy!



Despite the success of the mod it is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to Nickster our GoldenEye Source mod leader. He passed away on May 24, 2006, at his home at the age of 27. We as a mod team hereby dedicate this mod fully to Nickster. Tragically his life ended too soon and we as a team wish his family and relatives the best of luck after this difficult period. He would want us to continue on no matter what the costs and we sincerely hope he is in a better place. This mod is for you Nickster, from the GoldenEYE: Source team.

Welcome back for another community update. Today we are announcing and releasing our next Community Map Pack. Two are faithful recreations of classic GE007 maps, and one is a welcome departure from the GoldenEye genre. Each map's description is written by the map developer. Call it their final words; their reasoning for developing the map and crediting the people who helped them along.

Each of these maps were made by a GoldenEye: Source Team member, but were designed to be released separate from an official update. Although these maps are being promoted in a map pack, only Archives Classic will be included in future releases of GoldenEye: Source. These are fantastic quality maps, and we hope everyone will enjoy them as much as we had testing them. Nevertheless, let's dive into the details of each map.

"The map orientates itself towards the N64 classic layout as close as possible in order to capture the original feeling. In addition the map features some new high-res-textures and bot support for multiplayer experience. It took 6 months until the map was done: January - April 2014 and continued in December - January. While game artist Kraid modeled the exploding brake units, our new music artist Mesmonium created a new remix for Train. The map features the alpha version of the track. At last Graslu made the loading screens. Thank you all very much." -Cy

"A tear in the spacetime continuum has merged our reality with that of the Mushroom Kingdom. In a world where General Ourumov reigns supreme, he plays a twisted game of cat and mouse as he reminds players that they can not, in fact, win.

Blockfort was approximately a 3 to 4 week project, that began with a passing comment by JcFerggy along the lines of "I heard there was a blockfort Mario Kart map, I kind of want to see it" What started as somewhat of a joke attempt to create the original blockfort in a matter of hours, turned into making it a decently balanced, albeit silly multiplayer map. The original layout has been slightly modified to have interior sections that help to spruce up game flow. All team game modes are fully supported, and bot support is included.

The map became very much a community effort, and I thank everyone for their involvement. Kraid's tree sprites, Graslu's music, JcFerggy's texture help and loading screens, and Adrian's skybox all came together to help make the map what it is. And of course Luchador's assistance with hosting the map for us to test it. Their portraits can be found hanging in the map... if you know where to look. Along with a few other easter eggs strewn about." -Torn

"Archives Classic is a faithful recreation of its N64 counterpart, from its scale and lighting to its high-res texture work.

The tight scale gives the map a niche for close-quarters combat. The classic aesthetics and setting bring memories of chasing after and rescuing Natalya while avoiding the hail of bullets from Russian soldiers. There was only one deviation from the original I had to make. The original multiplayer map was just the frontzone (the starting room, pillar room, tight hallways and the offices). This area was hardly suitable in multiplayer for even three or four players. The doors leading to the main room, and the rest of the backzone, were locked. In this, I unlocked them for more gameplay opportunity and playable space.

The map started as my trial project at the end of August, and was my gateway to joining the dev team. After four months of work, the map reached its final stage in the middle of December. This was one of the most important stepping stones for me. It was not only my first official project for the mod, but it was a chance for me to further develop my skills and get to know my tools more intimately. This was also where I made my first model, the cardboard crates which are strewn about. I worked closely with Mangley and Luchador while developing this. I cannot thank them and the beta testing team enough for their support and input. This map was an absolute pleasure to work on and I look forward to producing more content in the future!" -Adrian

I Like you mod that your making and was hoping on of you gun modelers could help to model my own guns, I have been using XSI and love it I have my own gun model and all but thats it, I don't understand how to animate it and eventually get it in to a game, Also I have this problem with XSI where I can't properly import smd's all I get it a couple of xyz graph like think on my screen, so if you could help me in any direction I would be greatly indept

The only problems i really noticed were many a time i found myself killing someone only to be shot in the back a second later by that same person! the spawn points are fine but there should be a 3 second wait time or something before you spawn again. Another is the fact that the levels are kinda bland for what they could be. And the last minor flaw is that i found there wasnt really a reason for picking up a soviet rifle or a shotgun since the pistol you start with basically does the same damage and in some cases more accurate. Before i get flamed for this comment i DO know it is in internal alpha, i am simply pointing out the things that didnt allow me to have as much fun.

I know in the origonal version of golden eye there was a button you could press to sorta zoom in but when zoomed in you could not move is there any play for this in the future - it would be nice

BUt yes the no croshairs at first was annoying but now i find when playing source and walking around with the awp i can kill just about anyone not zoomed in (no scope kills) it is very exciting

Plus SPAWN CAMPIING there despreatly needs to be some sort of spawn protection or maybe a random spawn point (MORE random) and a certian destance of the closest player to spawn there i one spawned 6 times in a row only to be pwnd by some noob with a shotgun.
what might also be nice would be to make the tracer bullets in the guns invisible to other players b/c it is so easy to watch teh tracers and find somebody else and btw the Rocket Launcher needs to be done ASAP that would make it that much better

i really really enjoyed this mod but i think even though the original had no jump it still would be nice to put jumping in this game its the future and its no longer 1997 or whenever the game came out so i believe being unable to jump is extremely stressful that would be a very nice feature then i would give this game a 10 so please add that to newer versions of the game thank you

I played it expecting alot, what I got was amazing maps but the weapon models were a BIG letdown,
no reloadin animations were cool back then but now? plus the weapon models should show more of the gun, other that that this is a great mod, and very polished, good work

Goldeneye Source offers simple and good old classic deathmatch action. No complicate new mechanics, no specific movement possibilities with which you can outmanoveur your enemy, no adjustable or unlockable weapons, pure Deathmatch. Players who like the n64 goldeneye or games like Timesplitters will love this one! Only things that might be not the best for this mod are that making out if the guy you just've seen is on your team or not, and that the simplicity can also be a bit boring, as the player…
