GMDX is an award-winning large-scale modification for the 2000 PC classic Deus Ex. GMDX addresses the many flaws of the game, polishes it to a very high standard, and adds new layers of depth that one would have hoped to see in a sequel. GMDX is executed with the strict parameter of staying true to the original design principles that define Deus Ex, and seeks to improve all aspects of design excluding the plot and soundtrack. The cumulative result thus far is said to be, and aims to be the "definitive Deus Ex experience".
Various new HUD features that I could manage to fit in one screenshot.
Everything shown here is entirely optional either through augmentation or via new options menus.
1. Secondary weapon. Assign secondary weapons of your choosing which can then be used with a dedicated keypress without having to change your primary weapon.
2. alternate animated visuals for the bioenergy and stamina meters separately. Also note the yellow counter which displays the player's light levels in %, similar to the light gem in Thief.
3. One feature of a new HUD augmentation; detects nearby environmental hazards and returns relevant information to the user's HUD.
4. A hitmarker that indicates you damaged the target. You may recognize it from many modern games.
5. Color coded alternate ammo. Alternate ammo is color-coded in the toolbelt. Reading the text is not necessary to know what ammo you have loaded as a result.
The UI has far more improvements and additions than the HUD. Would you like to know more?
Holy crap, this is great, especially the secondary weapon and light level thing. Keep up the amazing work!
This looks really good!
About number 5: such a simple thing, yet very useful now that I think about it. No more eye squeezing to see what kind of ammo I have on a weapon.
Thanks for the amazing work, man!
Amazing work there!
Nicely done CyberP
Holy crap, I wish Deus Ex was like that back in the day. And light level meter is something I had wished for years - thank you!
Will we be able to toggle hitmarkers on/off?
Yes.
Wow a light gem and a secondary weapon. Its amazing what a few changes in UI can change the game in a myriad of ways. And that colour coding is a god send for the eyes.
The secondary weapon brings me memories from splinter cell conviction
