Global Operations Remake Mod uses the HL2 engine and we intend to revive the game Global Operations.
GlobalOps had many fans and still has, but the netcode of the game is really bad and the engine is more than outdated.

Global Operations Remake Mod wants to show how good the gameplay and the concept of Global Operations is and keep it rather close to the original.

Three teams are supported
7 classes (Commander, Recon, Sniper, Medic, Heavy Gunner, Demolitions Expert and an Intel Officer [team camera spectator]),
32 weapons with up to 3 upgrades (silencer, c-mag, laser, ...),
lots of equipment (gas grenades, law, ...) and reasoned mission objectives (not just "plant the bomb").

Every class has its own group of weapons which it's able to use accurate and fast and which it is able to buy. For example: The Demoman uses shotguns and explosives but is very inaccurate with a sniper rifle.

When you're deadly wounded by the enemy's weapons, you are lying on the ground, waiting for a medic. If you die, then you'll spawn in a convoy or a heli, which will transport you to the battlefield again.

Hello GORM fans, this is the development leader, Mindspark aka GRENADE-EXPERT here on moddb.
It has of coarse, been to long since our last news update, work has been slow, but things still being done.
Lately we have been working on completing the level USA, it is mostly done, albeit integration of some custom textures and models. I would like to note credit to "Snasfarbror" for helping us re-make USA while keeping it to appear as similar to the original as possible, but of coarse, with more modern day visual details.
Programming in game features has also made some progress, with the latest being custom team names, different hands on your firstperson weapons, based on your class, team, and which level you are on, As well as integration of bots that will fight you. We also have a bomb planting game-mode, working game round timers, a functioning weapons buy menu, and much more.

We are excited to be able to show you some of the progress we've made through images and videos in the next few months, as well as more frequent news updates in text.

We are however, still in need of someone who can create models, then rig and texture them for export to source, previous experience with the source engine is highly suggested.

We also are in need of someone who can create world textures, for Global Ops had a wide variety of locations that it featured in its missions, meaning many different atmospheres. So, there is much progress needed there as well.

We are also looking for mappers, and someone who can do character animations, and/or weapon animations.

As for-stated, we can provide high quality and in depth video recording of all of the original (Global Operations) maps and features that are to be remade. Another option is to give you a windowed client for the game that gives you noclip (In the original Global Operations). With these resources at your disposal you should be able to make a great re-creations for use with GORM.
Again, If you have any previous experience with the source engine in any way, and wish to contribute, even in the least bit, we should have room for you no matter what kind of help you think you can give, it might just help us release sooner.

Are you planning to add all the weapons from GO to the remake.Because most weapons are outdated and have been replaced by the military.Heck even the strongest weapon to me in the game the G11 hasn't been fully used by any military force.

It's more like Police & private security forces versus terrorists. All of those weapons are still in Use. Just because the military doesn't use the G11 outside of special operations doesn't mean a private contractor can't get them.

The FAL and AK47 are weapons that appeal terrorists because of their unregulated surplus and low cost. Those weapons are meant for the bandits but available to all players.

As for the 870 and Super 90. The M1, M2 and M4 are pretty much the same. And the Super 90 in the game is the short entry version. The M1 & M2 are better than the M4 anyway. The collapsing stock is a useless gimmickmmik while a magazine extension is more useful than that stupid compensator. Once the collapsing stock is replaced with a fixed stock and the compensatorator is replaced with a magazine extension it defeats the purpose of replacing the M1/M2 with an M4. Clearly benelli wants to phase out the M2 with updated options but the M2 is gonna be in use and cirulation for decades.

The P14 is the best pistol in the game, 45 ACP with 14 round magazine. Then you have the Glock 18, Desert Eagle and the Colt Anaconda. None of those are battle practical. The SigPro is a budget gun that costs more that every other handgun below it. In reality the Sig Pro is the cheapest. On top of that the .357 Sig cartridge is one of the least popular. So again it would be a choice of security forces or other private contractors.

This is a mod for the sole purpose of remaking the game. The game has a very good concept that we don't feel has been captured by any other game we have seen. Because of this we are working to remake it.

All the original guns will be added, with the same attachments and all.
