Though wars and diseases have tortured the land, the world’s population is steadily rising. Most people live in poverty, as they are homeless and unemployed. Society struggles for survival every day. Though medicine and technology in general have made it possible for the human race to avoid sabotage and disruption, only those of higher class are able afford life-extending genetic engineering, plastic surgery for unborn children, and remedies for cancer. Pollution is a worldwide problem, causing death and decay in various areas of the world. Businesses are not willing to change to cleaner and more efficient ways of production. Mankind is in urgent need for a new habitat. Meanwhile, larger businesses, with their greed and determination to rule the world, have halted all schemes to find suitable environments for man.
