Because the Phalanx is not only an AA turret. If you would bother to search the name with google, you would learn that the Phalanxes is the name of a greek heavy soldier formation, wich was 'da shiz' in ancient times. Tbh i find the name to be alot more fiting for a heavy armored vehicle than a naval mounted vulcan turret.
Also, what part of this tank looks like artillery to you ... ? It has a long cannon, because it's a damn railgun. It needs long rails to accelerate the projectile. Considering the tactics this general has, consider it more like a verry advanced marauder, because in many ways that's exactly what it is.
Third - just because some retards in the usa army take names and use them with some shity systems that have no connection to that name, doesn't exactly mean we cannot use those names for something else.
idk..but if u seen a Phalanx fire at an aircraft and turn it into flying swiss cheese..sometime a ball of fire...i think the name Phalanx fits...i have seen one fire and it is ******* awesome to watch them do what they do best...amke swiss cheese out of anything that flies
Nice tank !
Btw what does it fires?
Watch the video to find out :)
so this thing fires a railgun with adjustable fire power. good for different situations.
there are 2 phalanx tanks i saw here. which one is the real phalanx tank, this one or that mammoth tank-like phalanx?
this one, it is newer ya know...
what about that mammoth tank-like tank?
replaced by this one.....
so it build up power for different targets..or do u have manually make fire less energy like the freakin Wave Force artillery in RA3...
My God Looks Like A Guardian! Phalanx FTW
no it doesn't, the guardian tank in RA3 is far from looking like this.
i take that back.
OMFG %#%#%$@#$%
HOLY **** ITS AWESOME
wonder why EA cant think of stuff like this with their "dedicated and innovative" design teams
but, other phalanx?????
Frikin awesome..
WOW
Cool Tank, this shoud bring some pain. lol
lol, the turret reminds me the caliper ( Glue-it.com )
Really well done!
The it fires in the video makes me think of the wave-force artillery from Red Alert 3.
yeah! agreed. and the turret looks similar too!!! :)
awesome!
This time you forgot to add me to the design credits :P.
I knew I forgot something, anyway I fixed it :P
Ahh tks. Btw ... that is one awsome weapon effect. Just awsome!
My god!
Its Freaking Awesome!
HOLY HELL THAT IS PURE OWNAGE!!!
Will it get the plasma infusion upgrade or is it only for lazers??
only for lasers
it would suck if it gets the plasma upgrade.. look at it!! it has rail guns with adjustable firepower!!
claps
is this replacing the old Phalanx tank?
Yes
nice now i know what it shoots ty for saying great model!
I Thought you guys made Phalanx Heavy tank?
We changed our mind
the firing mode is the same of the wave-force artillery of RA3! impressive model! nice work!!
i like the consideration into how the railgun actually looks.
yay shooting throught stuff!
Why name it a phalanx tank when the peice:
A. Looks like artillery
B. The Gun Looks Nothing Like an AA Phalanx Turret
C. Is there even a comparison?

As anubis said the Phalanx is a greek heavy soldier with a big *** shield and a epically long spear (think of the Spartans in 300).
Similarly, the Phalanx in GenX is a heavy tank, with high armor and a long range railgun, that cuts through most armored vehicles.
You took the name from anti-air defence turret and added n,didn't you :)
Phala(n)x
the anti air turret is also called phalanx IIRC
to be a air defense it should have ciwax attached to its name
Yes, it's great, but it needs something on top so it is not just flat.
no, it looks good flat
it be awesome if u could use all this stuff in the campaign
who says you can't :P
