GMod is a Sandbox Modification.
Using GMod you can pose ragdolls. This means can position people from HL2/CS/DoD and change their faces. A big comic book creating community has popped up around this feature.
Using GMod you can build. Take props from HL2/CS/DoD and weld them together to make walls. Axis a wheel to it to create a working car. Rope some cans to the back. A big contraption creating community has popped up around GMod - creating such things as Rube Goldberg devices, catapults, cannons, bridges etc..
Using GMod you can make your own weapons. That's right, make your own weapons. Using Lua you can create a custom weapon to do just about anything. If you're new you can change simple things like rate of fire, models, sounds. If you're awesome the world is your oyster, mass changing guns, melon cannons, jetpacks.
GMod gives you the freedom to do any of these things in single player or online with your friends.

I've made a quick official version of Garry's Mod for Half-Life:Source.
This allows you to pose the models from the first game along side the models from the second game. You can also enter the maps - but there isn't any AI and some things don't work as expected.
You can download this version at the official Garry's Mod website. (You need to own Half-Life:Source to use the Half-Life:Source version of Garry's Mod)

not at all the point. the point is it is a MOD. nothing more. and it is a mod you have to pay for. those two words NEVER go together well. there is onyl one other mod i have ever heard of having to pay for, and its not even techincally a mod anymore (counter strike) since valve makes it themselves.
its not that i am opposed to paying for a good game, or even small little like like gmod or portal etc... i am just against paying for a mod. in the same way that i am against paying subscription fees for games like WoW.

can anyboody help me...i can not see any of my models or my guns..for example models include (guns,chairs,tables,player models, pretty much everything) i can select them and they will spawn but there invicible! i can see my hand holding something but i can't see the gun or tool..any help?!
