This mod mainly uses CheapHack for an engine. Telejano might work too.

Galactix is an arcade-type overhead space shooter. Think of Raiden. You fly around picking up powerups and destroying enemies for points, in hopes of making the high score.
There are various sizes of enemy ships, all of which can have one of several different attack patterns. There are also several different types of asteroids to worry about.
Powerups include bonus points, weapon ups, missile ups, health, and mega bonuses. A mega bonus will cause asteroids and most enemies to stop appearing for a short time and will fill the screen with powerups. Weapon ups will each increase the level of your weapon. Missile ups give you missiles, then increase the power or number of missiles you fire.
When you die, you lose 1 power level for your weapons. However, if you're above the max level, it will drop back down to the max level, losing all extra weapon power, but you get to keep the weapons you have.
You also have 2 special attacks loaded in your ship per life. A special attack will completely wipe out everything on the screen except you and items, and you will get points for everything it killed. Use these when you're in a pinch and need help.
You have 3 lives. Upon your third death, it's game over and your score is set as the High Score if it is high enough. If you reach the end of the level without losing all your lives, you receive bonus points for each life.

The most useful Quake engine to be used is CheapHack. DarkPlaces crashes in a blazing show of reset buttons, and normal quake complains of packet overflows sometimes, and may even crash when it runs out of edicts. CheapHack, on the other hand, is both pretty and stable.

Unfortunately, the version of Galactix up for download was broken for weeks, maybe longer. It didn't work at all. The new version is fixed up and can be downloaded now.
Luckily, the file wasn't screwed up during qexpo, just after; so, hopefully not too many people had trouble with it.

NEW HEADER EVERYBODY :D :D :D
cant wait to test this mod out! :D!
I've decided on a release date for Galactix. It's in the mod's profile, and it most likely won't change.
It doesn't look like I'll have the time to create any spectacular boss fights, but the rest of the mod is ready for release.
And yes, I actually did start uploading in the wrong gallary.

What I need is a main body core, and then 2 arms or weapons or something that will attack occasionally, but can be blown off by the player.
Maybe I can just find some other ship models and then expand them really large. <:O
If I find the time I might try to help out :) But I'm not sure how I'd do with modelling space ships.
Hehehe, did Wazat start uploading images in the wrong mod's gallery :D
I'm trying to find some models for boss ships. Something big and with multiple parts. Any suggestions?
Excellent, there are now 3 different ships the player can choose from, each with its own different attacks.
I used the turk and the fighter, I think, for the other 2 ships. I tried to use the capital ship, but I couldn't make heads or tails of the thing and gave up. :(
Thanks for all these models! I'll also use some of them as enemy ships (which sorely need a makover about now...).
Cheers.
I'll put them in when I get the chance. I've just been so busy with other mods.
I'll check these out.
Got lots to do, but I should have more time to work on stuff now that the semester's wrapping up.
