Age of Empires III: Galactic Conflict is a non-commercial, fan-based Star Wars themed mod under construction for Ensemble’s Studios Age of Empires III, drawing inspiration from several star wars games such as Galactic Battlegrounds, Force Commander and Empire at War, AoE3: GC aims to bring the star wars universe to the great RTS game of Age of Empires III.
A democratic union of millions of star systems that lasted for more than a thousand years, the Galactic Republic spread peace and prosperity throughout the known galaxy. Having survived the old Sith Wars and the Mandalorian invaders, the Republic's next obstacule was it's own greatness. Corruption spread wildly, weakening the Senate and causing dissent among many systems and corporate interests.
Senators became more and more corrupt and in response, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was born. The ranks of this new Separatist Alliance quickly grew, causing the Senate to endlessly debate the idea of forming an army to protect those systems that remained loyal to the Republic.
It was then that Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine was given emergency powers - powers he used to set forward the creation of a great clone army - The Grand Army of the Republic. The GAR was meant to protect the remaining half of star-sytems still loyal to the Republic. But soon, as the Separatist Crisis condensed, it became clear that neither the Republic nor the CIS could co-exist.
It was on the Separatist-aligned planet of Geonosis that a rescue mission turned into the opening battle of the Clone Wars, a total-war conflict that would engulf the entirety of the known galaxy.
The Chancellor's leadership became more authoritarian during the wartime chancellery, and eventually culminated in the issuing of the GAR's Contigency Protocol 66, a.ka. "Order 66". Clone Troopers throughout the galaxy opened fire on their Jedi superiors, while the 501st Clone Battalion lead by Darth Vader marched on the Jedi Temple, in what became known as Operation: KNIGHTFALL.
With the Jedi Order destroyed and as the CIS too fragmented by his plans, Palpatine, revealed to be a Dark Lord of the Sith, cements his role as ruler of the known Galaxy, and the Republic shapes into the first Galactic Empire. With Palpatine as the Galactic Emperor and Vader as the Supreme Commander, the Sith once again rule the galaxy.
