As the old world is crumbling something new is coming into being. Many people are waking up to their true powers- their DNA changing somehow... You, Myo Hyori- an 18 year-old girl of Korean descent, are one of them.
Absolutely astonishing atmosphere and level-design.
The whole feeling of the mod is what I expected from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but it wasn't there...
- collision control
- sometimes the wayfinding is too strange and unexpected (although it still works for atmosphere)
- quirky objects destruction and path-reveal scripts
Maybe you should do some animations for sticking through concrete and metal debris and thus the collision will be OK!
+ everything else!
Guys who are not OK with no crosshair... no offense but you're too lazy to dive into atmosphere. The story is about a human of great power... but still human lost in all the damn scary and dying megalithic city. Imagine lovecraftian hero with a minigun or BFG... Strange, isn't it?
As the huge fan of bio/cyberpunk, Tsutomu Nihei, Tatsuyuiki Tanaka and Team Silent — I deeply enjoy this mod.
All cyberpunk fans: strongly recommended.
Artistically, this shows some promise. I mainly downloaded this because the screens interested me, and the author does seem to have a good hand on textures, lighting, and mapping.
From the get-go, tho, there were problems. The glitchy icon in my Steam menu was forgivable, but then the game started with no sound- the default volume settings were at zero for some reason. Then, even more discouraging, was having no clue what I was looking for or where I was going in the very first area. Finally getting out of the area, I soon discovered a needlessly difficult combat system- no crosshairs, overpowered enemies, and a convoluted fireball system (cast it, chase it down, grab it grav-gun style, THEN throw it and hope it hits... while under fire, and again without a crosshair). Add to that further level navigation difficulties, a very intense film grain and forced letterboxing (making it very hard to see on my old 17" tube), and I decided this was too much of a headache to play thru.
It's quite a shame- the sights in the screens look like things I want to see. But I won't give myself a migraine getting there.
This mod is rather... obscure. I found it hard to get into, although the setting was really good. I didn't like the fact that the game had a permanent cinematic widescreen view to it. It has a lot of potential if you work some more on it, I just didn't find it all that interesting.
This mod brings more horror than Cry of Fear could ever dream.
This is manifesto.
This was made not to entertain you but to hit you at your head with a plank of wood. To make you fall on your knees in despair.
This is art.
